I did see the dogs - I walked up to them and started to pet them when I realized that I was standing at a dog butcher shop. I seriously almost fainted as I looked up and saw the dog meat hanging. It is a shame for this to happen but I still don't think we can condemn another culture's ways- We eat beef and turkey and chicken - who is looking them in the eye when they are slaughtered. I understand your wanting to get this noticed and hopefully things will change but you have to do it with love and kindness.

| I can't believe that here on YT anyone would say this is ok! Maybe I am reading this wrong who knows. This is a SICK practice. There is nothing that is right about this. They skin these dogs ALIVE! What worse is that some may say not to discriminate but it is really hard not to look at someone who is from Korea and not saw EWWWW! Michelle |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Emmsmom...I give KimMees mom credit for defending the culture of Korea...but I also know she probably didn't mean to sound like she defended this practice...but what some people eat in their cultures - we would never dream of eating. Hopefully people can see this as an OLD part of Culture and even the country who think this is a delicacy are coming around to more modern thinking like we do....that eating dog is cruel, sick and horrible for the dogs.... there ARE countries that can't believe we eat COW ...but we do it here every day. Please don't take this as I AGREE with this practice .....I Think it's HORRIBLE ! but also know the person who defended it is very sweet woman and she has been to the country herself and probably saw first hand how different their culture is. The animals we eat do NOT play fetch...or look into your eyes....kiss us ....or wait for us to come home....(well I'm sure there is a cow or 2 out there that will kiss someone - but I haven't met any ) I wish the world would remember......DOG is GOD spelt backwards.... |

I also agree we have to respect another culture which we are not used to. I don`t mean to defence myself, and I am really proud of being a Korean. I studied Korean history in Korean university. I know we have a rich history and many civilized things we can show proudly to the world. I will be even more proud if some Koreans don`t eat dogs anymore. For me saving dogs is more important than become embarrassed bc I am Korean , so I said some doggy eaters are barbarians . If anyone mistreats our companian animals I would say he or she is a barbarian no matter which country they come from. I totally don`t agree eating dog under the name of 'cultural diversities' . Because in human history, chicken or pigs are raised to be eaten but dogs are a different rank of animals. They show so much emotion and have always been human`s best friends. I believe Korean dogs have been same to their people . I want to respect all the dogs. I can`t agree some dogs have different purpose. I hope this thing changes eventually.. I will try to calm down. I `ve been not myself thesedays when I saw the animal cruelty. Thank you for interests.

| I lived in Korea for about a year 3 years ago. I had a couple of American friends there who tried dog at a restaraunt and they were fine with it. They preferred not to think of the cruel conditions the dogs were kept in before being slaughtered or how some of them are beaten to death and skinned. I made friends with Koreans while I was there and I know the preparation methods to be fact. Although I respect other peoples culture, to me it's really disgusting and sad. I personally think eating any dead animals is disgusting (I'm a vegetarian), but obviously I can't make everyone feel the same way. I think the answer is to make sure cruelty laws are in place and abided by. I really hope that anyone who knowingly harms any animals pays for it dearly after they leave this earth. |

uhm, right. nice attempt at a save. this disgusts me as much as people who eat chickens, cows, pigs, etc knowing the conditions THOSE animals are raised/slaughtered yet it doesn't keep them from eating their hamburgers or chicken nuggets.

| I am saddend by this culture BUT I think they have a right to their culture EVEN when we don't agree with it. Korea is not the only one with this culture. They also eat dog in Indoneisia. My dad worked over there for a while and he has a dog that he "resuced". He found her hanging (still alive) with part of her tail cut off. They were bleeding the puppy. Supposidly it makes the meat tender. Anyway my dad grabbed the dog and ran. He told a bunch of his buddies who went and "resued" the rest of the litter. This poor family went without dinner that night. So I totally understand. I just think they have a right to their culture. (If I were in my dad's shoes, I would've grabbed the dog and ran too.) |

| JimmyJimmy, I agree with Red98Vett! People need to know this is still happening. Most don't know this practice is still going on so this info is a good thing! I also wanted to let you know that I signed the Petition. Great Work! |
