I understand that the consequences would be Great if SONY decided to show the film but I so do not agree with letting Korea dictating whether or not to show a comedy about a world leader theirs or anyone else's. Movies like these have been made hundreds of time throughout time in drama, theater, action movies and comedies. No one has ever taken them literally. I don't think that anyone near of far has the right to dictate what we as Americans do in the US and while yes they threaten to do harm they have to realize that its Not a murder plot by any means it just poking fun at a young dictator who not only has his own country under his thumb but Now he has the US under his control as well. Its a very sad day when we as Americans loose our rights that our military have fought so hard to provide for us.

I am confused at Sony saying they have not backed down and they want America to see the movie... ummm then why did you pull it??? OOOOOHHH WAIT... because NOW you know we all want to see it even more because of all of this and you will make more money off of it!

Yeah, pretty much.
I think they should have allowed the independent theaters who wanted to show it, go ahead and show it. Then if some people didn't want to be near the potential threat, could go to the major theater chains and see Annie or whatever. Then lots of people who want to see the Interview now bc of all the hoopla would go and support the small guy owned theaters.

To top it off, if theater owners or the studio is afraid of something happening, make everyone who buys a ticket sign a waiver that they realize the risks and would not sue if anything were to happen.

I'm not afraid that the North Korean govt would be able to physically do anything to the theaters here. I'm worried some idiot would try to do something dumb.

I still think this movie will end up in Red Box. I believe it will get out some how. Might be accidentally on purpose, but I think it'll be out on rentals.

ETA: It might be one of those brilliant marketing moves, ya know. Now EVERYONE wants to see it.

I think this is it in a nut shell, North Korea is setting us up just as Isis had. Isas got a response and it looks like Obama plans a response.

I agree with your statement a lot, we still have free speech but at times that could come with a price. With the easy access foreigners have to our country and through the internet other countries and radical thinkers unfortunately can reek havoc here if they so choose, countries like N Korea and Iran and groups like ISAS (or however it's spelled) do not have a sense of humor and many of those people have no problem with blowing themselves up along with those they despise based on their nationality.

I love Obama's bravado from his secure spot inside the white house surrounded by the secret service, but I doubt he would send his daughters into a movie house showing that film. Free speech or not there is a high probability that it would be very easy for one person to walk into a move theater and plant an explosive, movie theaters are not airports they don't have security screening.

I think the best thing that could come out of this is if some type of law was passed making it illegal to reprint stuff like this that is hacked, not sure if that would be possible, but if it was it would make a cyber attack less appealing.

Between a rock and hard space comes to mind when I think of Sony's predicament.

TMZ and a few other disreputable sources are reporting that this may be an inside job done by recently laid off and disgruntled IT employees of Sony. Sounds plausible because North Korea is denying involvement. In the past, Kim and his predecessor daddy happily took credit for their saber rattling, which they liked to do to extract things from the US like gifts of much needed food for their people.

I believe I heard that our counter terrorism investigators have followed the hacking trail and through ip addresses it does lead to North Korea. But Ex Sony employees have all ready brought asuit against Sony for having their personal information compromised.

You are right, but really good hackers have the capability of messing with ip addresses and other indicators to make it look like the source is somewhere else. There are other cyber criminals who have evaded capture. The lawsuit could be further cover. I don't know what to believe. Crazy that this is all over a movie starring James Franco and Seth Rogen of all people.

True. This has given the movie so much more press that it ever would have gotten, it would have lasted a short time and disappeared. I think that the President waited until he tested the public's mood before he made a statement.
