I preferred the cottage Emily/Amanda lived in. I love that huge porch and the rocking chairs!

I guess I'm odd man out. I hate all white kitchens. Our last house had it and it just looked so plain. Our place now we got lapidus slab counters and dark wood cabinets. We were going to do a penny backsplash but changed to Copper tiles, easier. Want wainscoting w upholstered walls.

Right now they are doing our bowling alley of a backyard. Should be done thurs. Pavers, planters, and patio cover. I'll post pics when done. Our roof deck is pretty much done. Thinking about a faux grass rug under the teak table tho, and still looking for a lounger.

I also want to take our existing deck out and replace it with a newer, nicer, bigger one. I love being outdoors, and want an oasis, but right now it's not very oasis-y.

My son and I are redoing the walls in the living room to look like a log cabin. It's a slow process, but when it's all done, it will be worth it. (I love my power tools!!). My interior is very rustic/lodge like, and this is what we're doing to the walls. Before, they were just white Sheetrock. This is my entry, where you first come in my front door:

Wow! What a project! I wish I knew how to do this kind of stuff.

We are planning to sell next year and I wanted to enjoy my kitchen before we move, next time I will go with a French vanilla white and and rubbed oil bronze fixtures, I wanted that this time but could not get my head wrapped around what color appliances I should get.

We did go with the double door refrigerator with a drawer freezer, love it. Also we brought our hardwood into the kitchen. It's working well, I wanted all the same flooring on first floor.

Your kitchen sounds lovely, you should post piccies.

Have you seen the penny floors??? SO COOL looking! A penny backsplash would be great. Btw, what would you use to adhere the pennies while placing them, and then how do you seal it?

Does your roof deck get full sun? We get soooo much sun w/ our exposure and it's just awful on our outdoor furniture...we can't find any that will last.

You need to share the photo of your kitchen sink faucet. Ann's brain will explode when she sees how cool it is. :p

Do you mean the furniture itself or the pads? Our 'metal' furniture is holding up, but the pads we have to store when not in use. They would be toast if they were in the sun daily. We have to replace our umbrellas every 2 years, even though they are made with the special material, sunbrella?

Lol, I'm all for brain explosion due to design-braingasm!

It's sort of both...the pads don't hold up bc the sun just bakes them and the fabric breaks down and tears; we never took them down for storage bc we have our furn out all year round here....so it's super tough on the furniture; we gave up on our padded furniture. Then we went to this tight-weave type stuff (no pads), and some of it is holding up well so far, but the ones out in the full sun all day aren't. It may just be a given that we need to replace stuff often out here, but it's so $$$$!

Speaking of kitchen sinks, wants it: American Classic Modern Oil Rubbed Bronze Spiral Pull-down Kitchen Faucet | Overstock.com Shopping - Great Deals on Kitchen Faucets

Also want this stool for my art/painting table/studio area: Carolina Cottage Adjustable Tractor Seat Stool

Cha Cha 05-20-2014 07:05 AM

My house is so boring. I am very neutral/practical. Around here, everyone has Oak cabinets, and I am so tired of oak! I did recently update our kitchen to granite counter tops, travertine 3x6 tile backsplash, single basin sink and rubbed bronze faucet. LOVE the one Ann posted. I never seen that one when I was shopping.

I am in the market for 3 pendant lights and coordinating chandelier for my dining room in a rustic/industrial theme. I'd really like to make a trip to Texas where I can find some custom made.

Ann, these are on our Craigslist. Custom made tractor seat bar stools one of a kind set of three but I like the one you posted better.

I too am so tired of oak; I think if I had oak cabinets I'd have to paint them. For your new sink, do you mean you got single basin white sink? I have a stainless steel sink and often wonder if I'd like white better...stainless shows everything!

Those stools are AWESOME! That's like a once in a lifetime find there. How fun would those be!!?

In our library, I have a semi-rustic/industrial light fixture -- it's round, but it also comes in an oval. I *think* it may also have pendant lights in the same style. I got it at Home Depot! Have you checked out their lights...they have some cool stuff, coordinating too.

Cha Cha - some cool industrial-ish pendant lights on Joss and Main today: https://www.jossandmain.com/City-Lof...&utm_campaign=

I'm checking out your Pinterest (I think it's you?) and I'm loving the rustic barnwood mirrors...I've wanted one too, but have nowhere to put one. So neat.

My sink is granite composite in dark brown. It is hard to keep clean too.

On the lights, I found one of these pullys in my dad's junk pile and I want my DH to make me one of these lights to go over my sink with it (without the wire globe). I'd like to coordinate my pendant lights and dining light with this. So I'm thinking something along the lines of the second pic.

Going to check that out. Yes, those barnwood mirrors are so cool! On my to make list. Old barn wood is one thing I have lots of access to.

Oh my lord have you seen the colored sinks? I saw them at the design center, they are beautiful but I went with stainless because I know I would dislike it in 2 years and had to think of resale.

I am obsessed with my house and always want to make changes. That is why we are selling, I think I have pushed the other halts good nature with changes and remodels. He does not do any of the work but has to live in the construction zone and he does not like it. Next house I promised to stop, it's my compromise for suggesting a move from this house.

I just love it...love both those pics. It will be so fun to find a chandelier that coordinates with it! One Kings Lane often has industrial lights too, you're prob subscribed to them but if not, your pocket book wants you too :p (but not your husband's).

OOoooo, I haven't seen these! Which color did you like? It makes me wonder what a light gray sink would look like in, say, a white kitchen. I bet light gray wouldn't show a lot of water stains either.

Lol...you "promised to stop" :p...hee...me wonders if you'll be able to keep that promise...? It sounds like you enjoy it so much .
