| ![]() I didn't get to see it directly either! I was up last night but just didn't make it outside to look. Saw some spectacular pictures on TV this morning, though. Wow!

| ![]() D'oh, it's starting to get cloudy to the east! I haven't had a clear night to view one of the lunar eclipses since the one when I started this thread lol.

| ![]() It's supposed to start by me at 8:11PM tonight, I hope I can see it here from here on the mountain. Hope I am NOT the only NUT standing in the middle of the community road looking to the sky lol. Also hoping some of our talented photo buffs will take piccies and share with us.

| ![]() LOL in my first post today saying the eclipse is tomorrow when it's really tonight. I blame waking up at 6:45AM on a Sunday for that!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() It looks like I am out for the eclipse! Drat it all. Went out at 750 f pm est and saw a beautifull low huge moon. Getting my photo gear together 15 minutes later We now have clouds in the sky and no glimpse of the beautifully bright orb. Dang it all

ARGGHH, looks like I'm striking out too, again. We have some thick haze that's doubtful to move out. Even now the bright full moon is really fuzzy behind the haze, and the stuff goes up to at least 40 degrees above the horizon. With how much the moon dims during an eclipse I'm not hopeful. A normal full harvest moon is about magnitude -13 while an eclipsed moon is magnitude -1, which is about 600 times less bright. Still, magnitude -1 is very bright (the brightest star is Sirius at -1.5, or about 60% brighter than a -1.0 star) and the eclipsed moon is obvious to see if the sky is clear.

| ![]() It's pretty hard to see through the haze tonight. I can find it but it's not the bright orange-red ball it was April 2014 when I created this thread. Sadly this is actually the best viewing I have had of one of the numerous lunar eclipses since that awesome April 2014 one! All the others were 100% blocked by clouds, this one's only 80% blocked lol.

| ![]() Well I just came back in, first time ever I went out to look for the moon, I am 3/4 from the top of this mountain, trees must be blocking the moon. It always shines into my bedroom window after midnight, darn. ![]()

| ![]() Try to get somewhere with a clear view East Southeast 28 degrees above the horizon, which is where it's at right now at 9:40 PM CST. At 10:00PM CST it'll be 33 degrees above the horizon. At 10:23 CST the full eclipse is over. At 9:47 CST the full eclipse is at its maximum.

| ![]() Surprisingly I actually can see the red of it faintly through the haze of the clouds we have in south Texas.
