| I would think the type of water you have at your home would also make a difference. People that have hard water in their home might have to use something different. You can do a Google search for 'Best dishwasher detergent' and you will get all kind of good information.

| Dishwasher detergent you mean? Powder Cascade is the ONLY thing I use. I've tried other brands and off brands and nothing worked as good as Cascade. Its one of the few things that I'm very picky about. For Dish soap I always liked Palmolive, but I went back to Dawn recently and really like it. I just got a bottle of Ajax at CVS for .49 so I guess I'm trying that next!

I use the liquid Cascade, if that makes a difference. Also, I use the original with the green cap or the ultra version with the silver cap. The orange and lemon scented ones leave spots and rust.

| My hubby opens the dishwasher when its done, and shakes the racks to get the water droplets off the dishes then lets them air dry. We hardly ever have spots on our dishes.

| I'm having the same problem with cascade. We rinse the dishes but still have not clean enough dishes. We recently got a new dishwasher. We had a kitchen aid and got a whirlpool so I though maybe that was my problem. I am not a consumer reports subscriber so I can't see what they recommend. If you can give me a clue I'd be grateful. As for dish soap I use dawn for dishes and getting grease out of clothes.

| I use Dawn for hand washing, and Cascade Platinum packs in the dishwasher. I haven't noticed water spots with the platinum. |

| Oh my gosh I cannot recommend the finish powerball gel tabs enough! I seriously feel like the dishwasher door is sparking when I am done running a load. And shame on me but I have actually noticed I am becoming more lax about the pre clean because my dishwasher soap does such a good job. Very happy with it, worth every penny (hee hee, says the woman with six kids running around her house)

| Dishsoap - sometimes Palmolive, Ajax, etc. Usually Dawn Ultra Orginial. Good for grease. Dishwasher detergent - started out with store hrand. That was a joke. Went to Cascade liquid. Ok but our water is verrrrrrrrrrrry bad. Added Finish. Worked well together. Switched to powdered Cascade. No good. Trying the Powerballs now. They seem ok. I don't feel like they are squeaky clean though.

| Problem solved! I bought some Finish dishwasher detergent and rinse yesterday, and after washing a load of dishes...no spots, or residue! I have a new favorite. It costs more, but is def worth it!

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | That's good, hoping I have the same results. It will be a few more days before I run the dish washer so we shall see.

| My dishwasher got a real buildup of dry flaky scale(bottom back of dw) with the liquid cascade I was using. I used the vinegar process described on the net and switched to the finish powerball tabs. Problem solved. I switch between the tabs and occasional gelpacs I get on sale and watch for scale buildup. Dawn is amazing but it makes my hands peel- using method now, it does smell nice. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | No not yet, Haven't ran the dishwasher yet, waiting on a full load. I wonder if there is a Finish detergent, not just the spot free agent?
