If there's anything I can do to help you, sweetie, please let me know!! HUGS!!! |
Where is eveyone? No one's talking! Come on ladies talk it up! Tell others what you're doing; unless it's what you're NOT supposed to be doing. This thread has been mighty quiet. |

Thanks for the encouragement, it made me smile, and that's the best thing for someone who's a little down. |

Come on, ladies! Let's get this party started. Here's a discussion topic: What have you found to be the most encouraging part of this lifestyle changing process? Give us your stories of triumph! Let's get a positive feeling snowball rolling! Here's mine: Last week I went with my father, mother, sister, best friend, uncle and roomate to try on wedding dresses. I tried on several, but none suited me. I was about to give up when I saw it. Long train, lace, strapless, beaded bodice, gorgeaus. It was a size 12, though, I thought for sure it would never fit me. I tried it on anyway and it fit PERFECTLY!! The 16's I had been trying weren't doing it for me because they were too big and I hadn't even realized it! It felt so good to fit so well into a 12, especially one so pretty. We got the dress the very same day. And here it is: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_g...4&prodgroup=10 |

Your story reminded me of a similar one for me!! I had not bought any new clothes at all when I was losing weight, and I got surprised with a big client coming in and I was in jeans!! So I quick ran to the dress shop to get a new outfit before they got there. As I was a 12 at the time (so I thought) I kept trying 12s, and not liking them, and the sales girl handed me a 10, and I didn't like that. She looked at me kind of skeptically and said, maybe you should try an 8! I said WHAT? She handed it to me, I put it on, and it FIT PERFECTLY!! Freaky, isn't it? You look in the mirror and your mind doesn't let you see the woman you are, you only see the woman you WERE!! Awesome story, sweetie, thanks for sharing, and congrats on the GORGEOUS dress!! I wanna see pictures!! When is the wedding?? :D |

I'm glad you're feeling better. The gown is beautiful and you will look very elegant in it. I'm sorry your fiance is having to move but it's a great opportunity for the future. Try to think positive and all your dreams will come true. Glad is right! We keep looking in the mirror and seeing the old us - but it isn't there anymore! It feels wonderful - I just finished buying loads of casual pants and tops. I can't wait for them to come in. Come on everybody! You ALL have a story to tell - unless you're not "doing your homework" here. Where is everyone? Who is left here? Speak up! Who is STILL eating healthy? Who is STILL exercising? Has anyone lost any weight from the food changes? COME ON......SPEAK UP! |

I guess since this has been the case, I was "depressed" and unmotivated to do anything. I know, I know, quite bad. About two weeks ago, I joined a local gym with my brother. What a difference! It's true, I do have treadmill, video tapes, weights, etc. at home but what's the point of having them if I weren't using it??! I mean, I always felt I could do them ANYTIME. If I couldn't workout right this minute, I'll do it in the next hour. It RARELY happens. Gym, a totally different story. Instead of going for the machines again, I "aimed" for the classes. It's a set schedule, like going to "class" (I felt like I was back in school :D Good to feel young again...lol). So far, it's been great for two weeks. I've even given my lunch-hour to the gym! :) It's a great way to "get away" from the office and get my work-stress out. Eating? I found I've been eating throughout the day, little bit here and there. It feels quite good. Right now, I'm crossing my fingers and "hoping" I'll continue with my trend. :) Wish me strong will!! |
Kathy, that's AWESOME!! Quote:
Keep it up, Kathy!! You can do this!! Anyone else?? Where's our cheerleader, Ms. Teri hiding?? Come on out, girlfriend!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: |

She's here already! It's you Glad!!! You're the head of our squad! :p |
Nah, there are lots of people cheering but they just aren't coming out of the woodwork for some reason or other. |
Ah Kathy, you are so sweet!! Quote:
Oscar's Mom, a pretty new YT member, called me from the GROCERY STORE last night in Alabama to get some help making food choices!! Now how's that for dedication?? :p And she hasn't even "officially" joined. That's how I know people are still reading. They may not post, but they are still here. And that definitely COUNTS! Kathy, you have pom poms and a pleated skirt too, my friend!! :cheer: Thanks for stepping in when I stepped out!! HUGS! :p |
OK Glad...here I am ... Officially! There is no way I can wade thru all of these threads...LOL I have started to read labels and try to make better choices. Last night when I could not reach Glad on the phone, I bought lower fat foods than usual...I actually looked at the labels and bought "low fat" items. I bought fresh pineapple, apples, grapes, strawberries and bananas...no cookies. I bought lean loin pork chops...no beef. We travel a lot with our job so today on the road we had Subway...hubby even opted for the Club rather than the tuna he usually gets...the tuna is not listed on their 6 fat grams and less list. Tonight we grilled the pork chops and I stir fried cabbage, onion, peppers and mushrooms...but used a tablespoon of olive oil...probably not a good choice...then the bad...I had several bite size Snickers! As soon as they are gone from the house, they will not be bought again!...it is so hard to do it all right off of the bat! But I am trying. I am 46 years old, 5' 3" tall and 130 pounds...according to BMI charts I am on target but don't fell good at this weight...my goal is to lose 20 pounds...I plan to start walking and would love, love, love to get a recumbent bike to use at home! I have an old eleptical machine that does not work right and actually hurts my knees more than it helps...so it is out. We have a Total Gym but I have joint issues and it is hard to use my hands and wrists to pull my weight along on that machine...so it is walking or nothing at this point...wish I had somebody close by that shared my passion for this. But at least I have made a decision to go with this...I am gonna try really hard! You guys pump me up!!!! |

C'Mon! We're here to cheer you on! And, for one another! Get psyched!!! :cheer: :cheer: |
Welcome Debbie! It's refreshing to know there is someone out there that really wants to make some healthy changes. It would be most beneficial to you and hubbie if you decide to make these changes for your "lifetime". Some, I believe are doing it just temporararily to lose weight. I think that's where some people go wrong and might possibly end up with some serious health problems after all. Glad and her hubbie and myself and my hubbie have made these changes because we HAD to because of serious health problems. We had no choice in the matter if we wanted to prolong our life. It sounds like you are on the right path to making some of those changes. Try to weed through some of the articles as there is some great information there for you to pick from. Some of it you may want to print off to keep in the kitchen. I don't know how serious your joint problems are but in some cases if you don't exercise you may lose some "range of motion". In some cases, exercise will help. It's a painful thing when you lose that range of motion. If it's arthritic, then exercise will help. But, if you need surgery for a problem, that's a different story. Good luck in making right choices. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :happyboun :happyboun :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: |
