Yep, he sounds like a fledgeling. Your info is good. I'd just leave him be. The parents will feed it.

Yes blue jays will go after eggs! All corvids (the crow family) are known for that. They'll kill nestlings too.

How do the little ones like that get water, I wonder. I hope the parents are feeding him and not just trying to keep you away. He sure is pretty.

Oh wow. That is awesome. I remember the groomer that worked at the Vet I was at did the same thing. She would bring her little babies to work with her, I would always walk in and she would be feeding them. It sounds like hard work, I’m sure it was a special moment when you released them.

Don’t they get water from the food? I plan to stay away and not pester them. I don’t want to stress the poor baby out, nor the parents.

Yes. This is the front yard, Peanut doesn't go in this area unless I have him on a leash for one and for two he wouldn't climb in that ditch for anything!

They did have a little encounter in my backyard, before he ran through the hole in the fence. When I went in to grab a Tupperware, Peanut ran out, the baby and Peanut were nose to beak! I said “ Peanut No, be nice” and he thankfully walked away!!

Well my baby is gone! I had Dh go with me for backup!! The M/D didnt even come around so hopefully he is safe!

LOL!! I wonder if I will see him around..

Do the babies stay in the same area? I know with Eagles, once they fledge they will stay in that area- where the nest is.. they will still go to the nest to eat until they can hunt on their own.
