Does anyone know anything about Mockingbirds?

I am sure this little bird will be flying soon! If his parents are there, he is learning to fly. I had a few chuckles over this thread...those birds are characters. They dive bomb my pups all of the time...especially Cookie since she chases them.

LOL!! Oh my goodness. I sure hope so! We have them everywhere. I had no idea they were such brave little things.

It's that time of year, I guess.

We had this happen just last week in our yard. My biggest issue was keeping my pups from trying to get the baby. It was on the ground under/in my fig trees. The mom and dad were on the wire right over it. The nest was in a tall pine tree.

After 1 day, the baby was never seen again. So, Mom and Dad bird will take care of it.

Oh my that bird is between a rock and a hard place. It should be able to get out soon.
I had a problem in my yard with a mockingbird, I was told I couldn't do anything about it as the Mockingbird is Texas State Bird.

I haven't seen any this year, as last year a Blue Jay and Mockingbird got into a BIG FIGHT in the tree and the nest got knocked to the ground and the eggs broken.

Very true. I’m wondering when all my bunnies come out. I haven’t see them yet this year. Right in the same area is where all the bunnies live. I always feed them carrots. I usually have tons of babies hopping around. Don’t you just love nature. I’m always bird watching, hawk watching and such- DH calls me a nerd all the time LOL. We have so many types of birds around us, it’s so neat seeing all the different types. Such pretty things. I’m sure Mom and Dad will take care of him, like I said it took them a second for them to catch me messing with their baby! I just hope they do feed him and he is able to get out of there safely.

Yes, he is in a very hard place. I was thinking it might be better for him to be there than out in the open.. I know our hawks are always flying above, and all it would take was one look and he would be gone. Plus M&D are right above him, watching him closely. Aw that’s sad about the eggs. Was the Blue Jay trying to get the eggs? I hate seeing things like that, they are just little guys- helpless little creatures, but I guess I have to let nature be nature and hope whoever posted that info is correct!!

Two close to newborn blue jays from the same nest that my cat brought in the yard. The hardest part is feeding because when they are that young they have to be feed every hour and they have to accept you feeding them. I feed them pured kitten food, boiled egg and water out of a syringe. When they got big enough they were trying to fly in the cage I took them to the park and released them. I enjoyed doing it but dont know if i would do it again iit was hard keeping up with the feedings even when they got their feathers and you could feed them every 2 to 3 hrs
