| Birdies We had two birds I am guessing mom and dad building a nest on our deck under where the roof comes out a few feet well my grandpa didn't want them to and would hose it down he did this three times and I finally said please please leave it so he did and the parents built a lovely nest which was fun to watch. Well a few weeks after that here comes the baby birds, four of them it started out just tiny little mouths open all the time. Now it's four almost fully grown babies. They are now learning to fly one at a time and I swear I hold my breath every time they do. There is one that seems chubbier then the rest and one that seems smaller then the rest. They are just about to big for the nest now but it has been so much fun watching them. I heard sometimes they will fall out of the nest and die but we seem to have gotten lucky. Pictures will come later.

| I love it when birds feel comfortable enough to nest around in my yard! But then I go NUTS, terrified the babies will fall from the nest, or when they start learning to fly, I am scared to death one of the dogs will get them....I work myself to death, trying to help Mother Nature get these lttle birds grown and productive citizens of my back yard landscape!!! I am glad your grandpa allowed the one nest to remain so you could watch the entire event and cycle of life! |

| I love to watch birds! I finally bought a bird house so they could build their nest in it. We have babies every year!

YT 2000 Club Member | We have Barn Swallows that have a nest under the eves by our kitchen window. We tried for a few years to deter them from building the nest there, but gave up. So every year they come back and hatch a new family. The daddy will always sit on the fence close to the house. He doesn't even bother to fly away when we walk by as he seems to know that we are not going to bother the nest. We also have a nest in one of our front yard bushes. I have been watching the the family of House finches. From the tiny blue/green speckled eggs to the fuzzy babies. Now they are beginning to get their feathers and almost have outgrown the nest! We have a Wren family that comes back every year to take up residence in one of the bird houses! We feed the birds, year round and have quite the variety! I love watching the birds and have even gotten some photos of them!

| ahhhh what a nice story and like someone else said this could be a yearly thing. We have a pair of mallard ducks that show up at our house every spring. They are always together waddling around the yard. I don't know where they nest but every once in awhile I find an abandoned egg, which looks just like the eggs in my fridge. I have never seen them with a duckling so I am thinking they like being empty nesters and don't take care of their eggs. A few weeks ago I was planting flowers so I had my hose out, it was quite hot and we have not had much rain. So I put the hose in the air and made a shower for them, boy did they love that, they had their wings out and were almost dancing. I have not seen them for several weeks now, they only seem to stay about a month. They are probably on our lake somewhere, but I bet they will be back next May, oh and we named them a few years ago, they are Fred and Wilma

| My dad said these are swallows. They have left the nest now and its kinda sad and empty feeling but they are still hanging around our house its so cute to watch the parents with the four baby birds following them. I also put a hummingbird feeder right outside the window of my office that Callie loves and she really likes watching the hummingbirds her ears perk up and she is so still and quiet watching them its is soooo cute. I love watching them too.

| We have a wooden birdhouse on a shepards hook not 4ft off of our patio. Its in the shade most of the day. There is a pair of house sparrows raising 2 babys there. They will let us watch them feed the babys in the morning. After the babys are gone I am going to remove the house for a short time. It is going to be in the 100s here soon and I dont want any babys to die because it is inclosed and hot. I have really enjoyed watching them. Even the dogs will sit on the patio and watch. |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I love birds! We have 2 singing canaries, a red-belly parrot, 2 cockatiels and 11 zebra finches with 2 little baby finches. I feed hummingbirds too. Just sugar and water and we have a flock! So precious. I feed Niger to the birds outside in a big sock and we have lots of beautiful goldfinches. Bless you for saving the birds. I have 11 birdbaths around the yard and they all bathe and it is so cute. I love to get binoculars and watch them. Birds are amazing to watch! |
