ahhhh what a nice story and like someone else said this could be a yearly thing. We have a pair of mallard ducks that show up at our house every spring. They are always together waddling around the yard. I don't know where they nest but every once in awhile I find an abandoned egg, which looks just like the eggs in my fridge. I have never seen them with a duckling so I am thinking they like being empty nesters and don't take care of their eggs. A few weeks ago I was planting flowers so I had my hose out, it was quite hot and we have not had much rain. So I put the hose in the air and made a shower for them, boy did they love that, they had their wings out and were almost dancing. I have not seen them for several weeks now, they only seem to stay about a month. They are probably on our lake somewhere, but I bet they will be back next May, oh and we named them a few years ago, they are Fred and Wilma
