Somewhere in my files I have a great quote from a scholarly woman comparing grammar to a fine-tuned piano. The author said she let her ears serve as her grammar guide rather than worrying so much about the rules. |

I see sale and sell get mixed up a lot. I am "usually" pretty good at grammer but I get mixed up in the teenage slang with texting and what not (GE puppy talk too :p) so I'm guilty on many counts listed here. |

So......do you THAW or DETHAW meat???:rolleyes::rolleyes: |
I was at the quilt shop yesterday and they had a embroidery sample hanging that said "butterfly's in spring" and had 4 or 5 butterflies flitting around. I turned to my daughter and double checked to make sure I wasn't wrong, but it was supposed to be "butterflies in spring". My worst are their, there, they're and two, to, too. And it's an IDEA, not an IDEAL. You do not get a great ideal. And there's the whole "I" vs "ME" in a sentence. My son's teacher told him is is always "I". She argued with me. (or should I say she argued with I?) |
I hate when people say "I could care less". It's I couldn't care less! |

Another one that gets me is worm and deworm. |
Another thing that gets to me is when someone says they are "praying to" someone, when they are actually "praying for" that person. |
I'm loving this thread! I get really irritated with the simple things... Their, there To, two, too Accept, except Your, you're Double negatives |
He do... She do... It do... |
I had two testes last week. omg! Oh, just thought of another one... What time it is? |

I hate it when people say, "It's broke", no it's broken, and I'm broke. :p |
I've noticed what sounds like a lot of people waiting for gas in the NY, NJ area say they are waiting "on line" rather than "in line". Up there, did people used to have to wait for things on an actual painted line and this just carried on in the lingo through the decades? Or is my hearing just bad and they are saying "in line"? |

There's very little I can contribute to this... but when I read the title, I immediately thought of actual favorites and thus "all your bases are belong to us!" LOL |
The saddest part is that even after this post, people are still using the word there for their. It's their hair, their diet, their food, their leash, their bath time.....not there. |
I can't add anything to this, as I am very guilty of writing some of these things. Not because I don't know the correct way, but because it is just habit. LOL |
Not grammatical and don't know if already on here as haven't read whole thread but hate when hear people say "askterick" instead of "asterisk". |
