| ![]() I have 4 kids 2 boys and 2 girls. My oldest son is 23, and my youngest one is 13. My girls are in the middle 21 and 17. It is very hard but you just go with the flow. I didn't realize how hard it was when they were small because I just did it. Plus I was younger too ![]() I wouldn't trade being a mother for anything in the world. To watch your children grow. It is the most amazing job in the world. I was lucky enough not to have to work so no daycare for my kids. I wiped every nose ( and butt) lol Being a mom changes your life forever.

| ![]() well. after reading your thread I don't have too much to add that is different. I have a 25 year old daughter. She loves children and loves to babysit, but she says the same. She is just not ready for children. She isn't even ready to take care of a dog!! I will say babyies do start out small.. I guess if we gave birth to a pre teen no one would want a child. I wanted children, but really did not crave having children until after my first. The ability to care for the child grows as the child grows. Looking back (two girls, two step children, full time work as a teacher, very active in sports/clubs/girl scouts/ pets came later when they were in their teens) I would have had more children if my dh had let me. I just don't know how I did it either. I am old enough I could not do it again lol (but it I had to I would). Yes.. I have the empty nest. So now that they are moved out I have dogs. I guess the "gene" to nurture and such was "activitated" and just can't turn it off. lol

| ![]() At times I feel that way too. All my friends are married or in super long relationships. I'm the only one that's all alone. That's why Kaji's so awesome. All the love and none of the drama. ![]()

| ![]() I'm 21, almost 22, and really have no desire to have kids ANY time soon. I know some people my age who just can't wait. I certainly can! LOL. I've grown up being the "Big sister" or the "older cousin" my whole life, so I've had plenty of kid experience. My youngest sister is 4 and my oldest brother would have been 12 this year (he passed in '06). My other brother (my dads son) is 8. I also have many young cousins who I spend time with etc. It's SOOO nice to be able to go home and hand them back to their parents, LOL. I also live with my 4 year old sister most of the time at my moms house and it's so much work, and she's not even mine, but she's always around of course. I love having Jackson. He gives me just enough responsibility and nurturing and mothering stuff, but he's so much easier, hahaha. I really enjoy my time and a baby would completely change that. It's not that I'm selfish per say - I'm a homebody, I enjoy staying at home, or going out to dinner, and doing doggy things with Jackson. I'm responsible for my age, not a partyer, and mature. But still... kids... Ugh, God, I can't even imagine having a kid right now! Or even in the next 10 years, LOL. I don't know, I like to think someday I will have 1 or 2 kids. I haven't written it off by any means. I'm still young though and in no hurry. Besides I need find a good guy first! ![]()

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I loved having children, I really felt like I had something to offer them. I applaud those of you who aren’t pressured by society to have kids; my own mother had children and made it very clear she didn’t want them. Some people just aren’t meant to be mothers, and there’s nothing wrong with that, if they don’t have children, but once you do, I believe you should study everything you can on how to raise them and make them into the unique beings that they were meant to be. It is a lot of self-sacrificing and work. It’s not like a relationship where it’s equal and your partner does part of the work, it’s all one sided, and you are the one responsible and at fault if things go wrong. Children are never to blame; you just aren’t doing it right. Now that my babies are grown, I have relationships with two wonderful men that have chosen two beautiful women to share their lives, so now besides my two sons; I have two lovely women in my life. I feel very blessed, but I’ve got to say, it didn’t come easily or naturally, I had to read about it! I really do think owning a Yorkie can help prepare you a little for children, they have a mind of their own!

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | ![]() I raised three on my own...not that it was easy because it certainly wasn't! My last son is now in University...all of my children have turned out wonderfully, I feel i did a good job! It appalls me to see very young girls having baby after baby, (the first may be an accident..the second and third, hmmmm). The young women on here that choose to not have children yet or not at all..I applaud you for your maturity. Not everyone is cut out for motherhood, just as not everyone is not cut out to be mommy to a pup! I'm glad that you are not feeling presured into having kids...if you dont want them, you dont want them..Kudos to you!
