Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Natural cleaner.. have anyone tried this? I am very curious about it, and I am thinking about giving it a go.. Natural Cleaner Orange peels, vinegar in a quart jar, let sit for 10 days or so...strain out the... liquid and use as an all-purpose cleaner. Easy, cheap, natural, smells good! |

| Carmen, I have not tried this particular recipe. But, I have been cleaning my house for the last several years free of most chemicals. My favorite book is "Better Basics for the Home" by Annie Berthold-Bond. Here are a couple of my favorite types of mixtures, and I've modified the recipes from different sources to suit my own tastes in terms of the scents and uses. Windows, glass, mirrors -- club soda in a 32 oz spray bottle w/ 10 drops of essential oil of lavender, lemon, or sweet orange. General purpose cleaning (kitchens etc) -- 1/2 tsp castille oil (I use Dr. Bronner's Rose Hemp) in a 32 oz bottle mixed w/ 50% white distilled vinegar and 50% water and 10 drops of essential oil of lavender, lemon, or sweet orange Bathroom counters, toilet, etc - Same as general purpose cleaning formula but I switch to 2 drops of peppermint oil. I love it, my house is very clean, it smells good w/o chemicals, and I don't die breathing anymore like I did when I cleaned w/ bleach and heavily fragranced products.

| You will love the book. It's very easy to read. I think you can buy it on amazon for about $12 or so. I found that I can make most anything in the book by having white vinegar, baking soda, club soda, and castille soap on hand and a few essential oils along with microfiber cloths. I have not ventured into some of the areas she covers in the book but some I have - like keeping fruit flies away in the summer by having a basil plant in the kitchen. She is like the queen of green. I like things that I can keep pre-mixed like the ones I mentioned. I have plain spray bottles and I just label them with a permanent magic marker and keep them under the sinks inside the cabinets. I can't wait to hear what you think of your new cleaning supplies

| Thank you for these recipes! Spray cleaners make my ears buzz, who only knows what they do to my pups! I have switched to mira fiber/ microfiber cloths and don't have to use chemical cleaners anymore. My stainless appliances are totally spotless without all that crazy (expensive) cleaner. Same with my windows and mirrors. I found these "ultimate cloths" at a yardsale and I am amazed! |

| Yes, the book is great! There are so many ways to cut down on the use of chemicals. I love the book over other ones I have because she is right to the point and gives you recipes with amounts. As you go, you can adapt them and modify them as it suits you, but when you're just starting out like I was, it was great to be told exactly what do do and how. I still refer to it all the time and enjoy reading what she has to say.
