| ![]() This too shall pass... It's hard to deal with, I know! Take long baths and sleep when you can and get fresh air. Sorry that's all I have and that's for YOU, not the baby. ![]()

| ![]() It's interesting you brought this up today, Rachel. They were talking about this on the news this evening and did mention it usually peaks in babies around two months old. They mentioned a nice, quiet environment helped, but no one had a magic answer.

| ![]() Rachel, I think you are looking in all the wrong places for help. Why don't you contact the La Leche League for help and support. It's a great resource to breast feeding moms. Here is a link to the local chapters in your area. LLLI | La Leche League of Missouri

| ![]() thanks everyone. lots of good ideas and suggestions. it's getting better so i'm hoping it's just a little freak out for the 6-8 week period. he's only fussy in the evenings now and going to bed pretty easily some nights and sleeping well only up once in the night to eat now. still a bit fussy at dusk til his bath and bed routine. but we're dealing with that ok. thanks all again. |

| ![]() My son had colic and it was so hard. I had a hard time breastfeeding so we finally found a Lactose -Free formula that helped. He got better at about 4 months - stopped crying every evening, etc. It was so hard; I feel your pain. I was a single mother - with my family hours away. One day I called my girlfriend at work (I was still on maternity leave) and I was crying myself; hadn't had any sleep in I don't know when and Matt wouldn't stop crying. She came over - told me to get out of the house for a couple of hours - and when I got home - Matt was sound asleep -on his tummy. Which I never put him on but it worked for her. Anyway, I will never forget it - I really needed support that day and she gave it to me. I hope that things get better soon. Going back to work was hard because I was up a lot at night - but it did help us to get on a better and regular schedule. Hang tight!

| ![]() I too had a baby with colic. It is AWFUL!!! I still remember the feeling of helplessness, all you want is to soothe your little one and when you can't you feel so inadaqute. I used to use a hot water bottle under her belly as it cant burn and I would pat her bum in a steady rythm. That seemed to help as well as gripe water. The only thing that truly solves colic is the passage of time. I am sorry to hear that you are getting judgement from family members, that is the LAST thing a new mother needs to hear. Also please ignore those who are suggesting that breastfeeding is an issue. You are choosing the BEST for your baby by breastfeeding. Why anyone would suggest that using milk from another species as a better option is beyond me. Clearly you are a wonderful mother and you care very deeply for your baby. Becoming a Mom is such an overwhelming experience and brings up so many emotions, feeling lost and stressed out is SO normal. Be good to yourself, you are doing a great job and remember that your feelings are normal and that its ok to feel stressed out. And IGNORE anyone who tries to judge you and only seek the advice from people who are caring and understanding. Hang in there Hon, it gets easier. Tina ![]()

| ![]() My niece had AWFUL colic and after literally months of almost constant wakeful crying and many trips to the pediatrician and trying every kind of formula there was, my sister finally took matters into her own hands and tried little Kathi on skim milk. Colic stopped after a couple of days. Seems her stomach just couldn't handle anything richer than that. Kathi is a lovely grown, healthy woman now so the skim milk didn't seem to cause her any problems - it just solved a big one.
