Donating YT 500 Club Member | Car Insurance Shopping.. I got a New Car! YAY! For the last 5 years I have AllState and I have been really happy with their coverage. I recently purchased a 2006 Nissan Altima and now I am shopping around for different quotes. I am still waiting to get a number through my agent from Allstate. But Progressive and Geico are substantially cheaper with the same amount of coverage. What is your experience with insurance? Who do you like?

| Congratulations on your new car! I've had Progressive, Traveler's, State Farm, Farmer's, and State Auto. I've had claims with Progressive and Traveler's and have been pleased with both. I liked that I had access to all my information online with Progressive, but went with my local agent for the discount that bundling with my home owner's provided. I miss the online access , but not enough to lose the discount.

| I have young adults and teens on my policy so have found it necessary to shop around every year (or 6 months) I used geico for years until their rates escalated, than mercury, now progressive (travelers was equal but progressive gave a large discount for paying in full!) I am dropping my daughter (25) and she will pick up her own- my agent shopped 6 companies for her and progressive was again the cheapest.I used to use an agent that only did one insurance(prudential) but found the agencies that shop around are better for pricing. |

| Congrats on your new car! I have always had Farm Bureau Insurance because they were affiliated with the organization my father worked for. FB Insurance is very reasonable, much cheaper than Allstate. I think you have to sign up for a Farm Bureau membership with an annual fee of approx $25. You don't have to be a farmer. We have only submitted 2 claims in the 25 years that we have used them, but they were great both times. My convertible was broken into and the thieves broke a window, stole my stereo, and ripped up my dashboard. Farm Bureau was fast and generous with processing the claim.

| I have Farm Bureau. We have been happy with them too. My house was broken into and that night the agent came out to check on us. They handled the claim quickly and paid like any other insurance would pay. Of course, not as much as we would have liked for them too but that is typical I think. You do have a $25 a year membership fee but that is it. Plus you get other perks like financing and stuff. Not to offend anyone but I personally can not stand State Farm. We had major issues with an agent here and now I have a "bad taste in my mouth" for them. I will never use them again. As far as Progressive and Geico, I have no experience with them. However, my brother has used Progressive for years and seems to be happy with them. Glad you found a car! How did the title issue end up going?

| Congrats on you new car! We drive Nissan's and love them. I have Westfield Insurance, but not sure if we write in your state or not. Great claims service...but then again I'm an auto claims adjuster for them

Me too! I ended up trading it in so I actually didn't need the title. The dealer was able to request it. I have a friend that also has State Farm and switched to Geico and was also fed up with State Farm

| I have Progressive for the vehicles and have had it a long time. I see their claims vehicles running around here all of the time. I haven't had any claims, but others that I know have and received quick and good claims service. Their rates are more reasonable than some of the other companies. You can just call their 800 number and get a quote.

| We have progressive. Their prices are reasonable and when someone hit and run our car they were very easy to deal with so no complaints with us on progressive and you can get good driver discount rates too which is good because neither of us have any points or any thing on our record

| That's because they eliminate the middle man, the insurance agent!

| I really want to look into Porgressive now, but I just paid for 6 more months of insurance. Can I switch right now or do I have to wait until the 6 months is up? hrmmmmm

| Right now we have Costco ($50 membership yearly to be able to get their insurance). We have had no claims, so I have no idea how good they are. It is substantially cheaper than the other companies for us. State Farm - my family filed a very large claim with them over wrongful death situation. No complaints if I remember right.

| You can switch. After you get a new company paid for and in force, then cancel your other coverage. You will get a pro-rated return of your other premium.
