I will say a prayer for your Grandmother and your family.

Congrats on the promotion, I am not sure if it is appropriate at this time to say it but it is sincere.

I hope you get to spend as much time as possible with your Grandmother, they are special.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm sorry, I didn't get online at all yesterday.

My grandparents are the only stable secure thing in my/our ever changing lives. They've had the same house, same address, same phone number, since I was a baby. When all their kids had kids and got divorced, we always could go to my grandparents and they would be there. We all took turns living with them when we were growing up, and they were always soooo actively involved with all their grand kids. They are the corner stones of our lives.

My grandmother has a tumor in her colon that has completely blocked it. Nothing is getting through. It grew bigger in just 3 weeks. She is going to die of starvation and dehydration before the actual cancer is critical. That is the hardest part. She does not even know she is dying. She has dementia, but not terrible yet, she knows who everyone is, and she has conversations with everyone like everything is ok. She knows she's sick. She's hungry too. She is MAD that we won't feed her. She'll be feisty until the end.

Thats my grammy! She told us yesterday that we are starving her to death! Little does she actually know that is what is literally happening. It makes us SO mad that it has to be this way!!!

They gave her morphine last night, supposedly once that first dose is done, it will be down hill very quickly. They will keep her on morphine until her body shuts down. It will only be a matter of days to a week.

Please say a prayer for my family. I really appreciate all the thoughts & prayers.

im so very sorry about your grandmother. i lost my nana at the end of last year and no matter how hard it was seeing her have a stroke and those last days of dying at home..same thing she could not eat and when my dad cooked she would scream and we all knew she was starving. it was horrible but in the end we were thankful to have the time to say goodbye and she was no longer in pain she is now in a good place. she was the same for me and the staple of our family. i miss her everyday but then i remember she is now dancing and having fun doing the things that should could no longer do. i will keep you and your family in prayers. stay strong and remember all the loving memories to walk you through this very difficult time. hugs.

Hang in there...you still have to allow yourself to focus on the beautiful things that are happening in your life.

I am so sorry to read about your grandmother. The growing older and end of life stuff is sometimes so difficult,especially for those of us that are caring for the elderly because we know what is going on when they dont.
You are very blessed to of had such wonderful grandparents. Take from their example and learn to be like them. I find it comforting to know that there is alot of my grandmother in me. The life lessons that she taught me have kept me on the right road for many years. She has blessed you all of your life by being strong for you,now it is your turn to be strong for her and spending time with her.
Instead of looking at life as a bad thing following a good thing,try to see it as God's way of trying to make the hard things in life not quite as hard,by sending a blessing as well.

I'm just now seeing your thread. I want to say how sorry I am to hear of your grandmother's illness. How sad. Also sorry to hear about layoffs at work. I'm so glad you got to keep your job in these days and times. They are really hard to come by right now.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I hope you post some pics for us all to see. I know your grandmother would want you to go forward and be happy with your life, as hard as it might seem to do so right now.

Your family will be in my prayers.
