| Coffee Problems (kinda gross) I apologize in advance if this offends anyone, but since I did say "kinda gross" in the subject line I'm hoping it was a sufficient warning. Fact is.. I LOVE coffee. However...every time I have coffee (even just 1 cup) I have the worst upset tummy in the world (in the bathroom a LOT). It doesn't matter if it's decaffeinated, cream or no cream, sugar or no sugar, and brands don't matter either. The strength of the coffee doesn't even matter...I still have GI issues with coffee. I asked my doctor and she was ZERO help on the subject. I'm just wondering if anyone else has a sour tummy because of coffee and if you have found anything to help? The obvious answer would be "Stop drinking coffee then, ya dingbat". Yes...I'm aware of this. But I really enjoy the taste of it. Perhaps someone else on the board has the same potty problem with coffee and has figured out why, and has a remedy OTHER than not having any coffee? Bella will probably be awake again at 2am so I may as well stay up until then and fiddle around....no sense in going to bed if I'll just be up again 3 hours from now. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | You may have covered this... but I drink it with a ton of non-fat milk. Dairy has, shall we say, the opposite effect, so hopefully that will balance you out a bit.

| I have the same problem, not to that extent. I can't have hot coffee without having an upset tummy. Oddly, I can have a blended frapuccino with no I'll effect. I'm not a fan of coffee, but I'm a fan of my Saturday morning breakfast I have with my daddy. It's our bonding time. if you find a solution, let me know.

I did the pillcam as well and the smaller intestine looks fine. I went in because of a constant pain I have on the left side (still have it)...nothing showed up in CT scans, MRI, ultrasounds or x-rays so they went to the sig and colo...still nothing. Thousands of dollars later...still no answers. haha Coffee isn't the only thing that does this to me..but it's the only thing I WANT that does this. Thank you for the suggestion Quicksilver. I've tried quite a bit of creamer, but it doesn't seem to have any effect, other than making the coffee very goopy-textured. hehe I can go without coffee...it's definitely NOT a life-and-death MUST have, but I sure do enjoy it. I guess I either stop drinking it...or make sure I'll be home for a LONG time after having a cup. =/

cheese hamburgers (veggie burgers I'm okay with, oddly enough) anything fried chinese food spaghetti lasagna lots of other things similar to those things...but they are things I don't mind not eating. Coffee is my weakness. I REALLY like coffee. The pain in my left side is *always* there, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The only time it lightens up is if I *only* eat vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and chicken. But...those four things alone can get very boring. The pain is still there even when I eat those things, but it is much less. Logging off for a while...Bella just woke up. Last edited by YorkOfTheShire; 01-26-2012 at 09:30 PM.

| I have a poop problem if I drink too much of it so I limit myself to one cup.

| Hmmm.... After reading all your other "trigger" foods, I'm starting to think its genetic. Those are my mom's trigger foods. I love pizza, cheeseburgers, pasta and tomato sauce. I can't imagine not having these foods.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I would suspect that creamer is not the same as milk. Why not try milk (LOTS of milk) and see if that changes things?

| Hot drinks of any kind stimulate bowel movement & when you ad any caffein even from decaf or chocolate it over stimulates. |
