I would like to know why you wouldn't get a cavity again? I know they aren't as common as we age, but we can still get them. Unless your just one of those people with naturally strong teeth? I haven't had a cavity in years, but I had one on last visit. My teeth have always been weak though.

Chewing gum can be great for teeth as long as it's sugar free, I use Extra and don't have to worry if the dogs get some. I mean I keep it away from Joey, but I won't even buy gum that has xylitol in it. Gum is good because it helps to stimulate the production of saliva and saliva helps to neutralize the acid produced by bacteria. The acid is what causes dental decay and bad breath. I’ve heard that you don’t want to use citrus gum, thinning enamel is another problem as you get older and citrus anything can cause that.

Well he said that I have 3 holes ( I totally forgot the correct words) He said everyone has these holes, I think he said degenerate holes?? Most of the people go and get them filled. They start out small like the ball point of a pen, they get larger in time and that’s when all the stuff gets in there and( as the hole gets bigger) that’s what a cavity is. So he is going to fill those holes! Then he said after those are filled I shouldn’t have any cavities as long as I take care of my teeth.

Is it bad to chew not sugarless gum? I am a big fan of Ice breakers gum

Well I guess maybe he meant if all you have is three holes and you haven't been going to the dentist regularity and taking care of them, then maybe you have really strong teeth. I get my teeth cleaned 3 times a year, and floss and brush and water pic, etc.

That has xylitol in it, so make sure you keep it away from Peanut. Also, the lemon flavored one is bad for you teeth, it softens enamel. Once the enamel is gone, you are out of luck. So far there are only products that harden enamel, I'm not aware of anything that restores it.

Ya I think that is what he was getting at. Wow three times a year, I need to ask him how many times I need to. My gum is always out of Pnut’s reach. It isn’t lemon it is mint. Where did you get your water pic?

I'm a lot older than you I'm sure and when you get to be my age teeth are unique! The mint won't hurt enamel, but keep it away from that little stinker! I got my water pic at Target over 8 years ago, it's still working great.

Great, I am going to do some research, but the water pic isn’t used for flossing… right-? It is just an extra thing to do along with flossing?

I'm not positive, but I think it would be a mistake to stop flossing. You can ask your dentist, I do think the water pic can go places where it's hard to get dental floss and also it improves the circulation to the area. My mouth feels great after using it, but I have to use warm water never cool because my teeth are so sensitive.

In addition to flossing and the water pic, I love my Sonic Care toothbrush. Could not live without it. A regular toothbrush leaves me feeling like I haven't brushed my teeth. The Sonic Care helps fight gum disease too.

Oh that's a great idea! What are the pros of using a sonic? No I'm not going to stop flossing or trying to floss lol- hope it gets easier!

I think you get under the gum line better. I get a better report at my teeth cleanings since I've been using this, and I'm in and out really fast, now which is a big plus. I'm not sure if it has advantages over another type of electric toothbrush.

Using a Sonic Care toothbrush, you will never have plaque or tartar or whatever else typically builds up on teeth. Your mouth will feel as clean as it does after a professional dental cleaning -- but you should still go in for cleanings. The Sonic Care massages gums and helps keep things as clean as possible when you can't floss -- although, keep flossing.

There is a YT member here who uses the Sonic Care on her dog. I am so jealous. If I could convince Max and Teddy that the Sonic Care isn't evil, they would probably never have to go for dental cleanings.

The first time using it is sort of scary. I had toothpaste and water shooting all over the place, lol.
