My neighbors know, the kids know and we have people who come just for the scare. It's the same reason I pay 25.00 a pop to go through random haunted houses. We don't scare the little bitty kids, or if a parent asks us not to scare their child.

Oh she is? Interesting. Perhaps she will stay in her group of micro mini yorkie tinies that don't play with other dogs over 3 lbs. Then they can all go trick or treating together in ritzy neighborhoods.

Interesting thread! I agree that teens and adults are too old to be trick or treating. One year I had a young mom with a baby in arms and the grandma who all had bags for the treats. Another year, a pregnant teenager. After that, we closed the doors and decided to hide out in the back of the house. We felt that it was getting ridiculous.

This year I've had a change of heart as there are two very young kids next door. So...I bought candy and will hand out treats for the early hours and the little ones.

I usually go all out for Halloween. It's my favorite holiday. I actually own 10 fog machines, 5-6 strobe lights, a 6 ft Jason voorhees, several vampires, a endless tunnel, and a full fledged cemetery complete with mausoleum. I make the kids walk through a tunnel to get to my porch to get their candy. We chase them with a chainsaw, and scare the crap out of kids and parents alike. Last year some teenage kid decided to hit my son and a fight ensued, so there's no Halloween this year at my house. Next year, we'll see.

I can't believe you actually screen the trick or treaters to see if their costume meets your standards.

It sounds like you have a good time!! I don't see anything wrong in scary haunted houses.. if they are not scary people would be upset. When my girls were little I would not take them or only take them to "g" rated. I was sure to let them know it was not real.

sad to say, there are people that are having such a difficult time they could not afford that. I see it at my school, in my neighborhood. I am blessed, I can - but I choose to buy the better candy and limit my "treats" to the younger children.

reading this makes me sad that the OP would leave YT over this thread. I think we all have a right to our opinions, and if we ask for opinions we need to be thick skinned enough to take the answers. There were a few post that were a bit tough.

I have been thinkin... I know.. dangerous!! I think I will take my dogs t/t.. but I will give the homeowners a "treat" .. like a cupcake or something. Of course just the people I know.

Yes I agree I didnt see anything in this thread that should have caused the OP to leave. People are going to have different opinion based off of their own experiences and you need to be able to take all opinions not just the ones that go along with your belief or what you want to do. And whoever called people on this thread scrooges that is really uncalled for. Stooping to name calling because someone doenst have the same belief as you is really just saying your belief and opinons are superior to anyone elses

if I went to as much trouble as michellem I sure as heck would be screening costumes as well. They are already giving a free show w the haunted house, and plus they have to give free candy to the moochers? I don't think so.

I think scrooges was meant sarcastically? I don't think it was directed at anyone particularly.
