| You have my sympathy. All three of my children are married as of June. Mother of the Bride position stinks. There was so much planning and stress. I liked the answer about keeping it simple. Simple, cost efficient...you will be glad you did. Once it is over, you will still be married, if it is expensive or economical. One just comes with a bigger bill. Best wishes to you!

| Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I remember those wedding planning day! My biggest help was having all my friends/family help me. My Mom skipped into overdrive and officially was my wedding planner. She was amazing and took a huge load off of me. So don't be afraid to rely on others to help...they can make your special day absolutely beautiful! They sure did for me! Good luck to you!

| Remember...once it is all said and done...the flowers and all that stuff wont matter. Enjoy your engagement. Do you remember the last wedding you went to??? Do you remember what the invitations looked like or what the centerpiece on the table looked like??? Probably not. Keep it simple dont get stressed. Get what you like, even if it is just 1 rose in a budvase on each table. Who cares. Your guests are there for you and they want to see you. If the cake has chocolate pudding or strawberry fulling will it really be a big deal. Relax you are making yourself nuts. People really dont look at that stuff. Do you when you go to a wedding??? I dont think so. My only advice is to get a good photographer and videographer. Everything else will be gone in 4 hrs. Take a deep breath and relax. My husband and I put a binder on a house and got engaged on the same day. We had all the new house buying crap to do and all the wedding planning to do it was nuts. Just keep it simple and elegant. The most important thing is that you are marrying someone that you love dearly. The rest will just come. If it rains than it will rain who cares you cant do anything about it. You are still going to be married so who cares. Relax you will be fine.

My First wedding 200 + guests, church, white runner, candles, organ and harp and flute, white lace dress, flowing train, flowers, huge reception, bar, band, steak, salad, baked potato, giant cake thousands of dollars. Wonderful memories. Widow 10 years. Second wedding, outside barefoot on the patio .Pastor and his wife, me, him and the Yorkies. Wonderful memories. $50.00 for the Pastor, $12 for the licence, $10 for the flowers in my hair and to hold, $3.00 for white cupcakes for the Pastor to take home to his kids. Wonderful memories. Best Wishes.

| I got married a little over a year ago and DREADED planning! My husband has a huge family(over 30 first cousins alone not to mention everyone else and friends) and I didn't want to have to plan such a big, expensive event. So I took the easy way out that also made our families happy. We had Cruise Ship Wedding! It was SOOOO much easier. They take care of the venue, music, food, cake and even the flowers if you want.(I didn't, I purchased fake one that came out soo beautiful and for everything was only about 700 bucks) Best part is the cost, it was only about 2000 for the package then I believe 20 or 30 dollars per person (after the first 20 ppl) It is open bar and was amazing. This way we invited everyone, and A LOT of ppl could not make it but didn't feel so bad because they were invited..lol! Then after the wedding we sailed away to our honeymoon, it was AMAZING!! And all I had to worry about was my dress, flowers, rings, tuxs, bridesmaid/flowergirl stuff, invitaions and favors. Which sounds like a lot, but is a lot better than having to everything else for a land based wedding. The best advice I can give is make sure to take time for yourself and TRY to enjoy the process, you only get one wedding and you don't want to look back and think of all the stress! Also remember things WILL go wrong!! You just have to roll with the puches and understand its not the end of the world, you are still marrying the man you love and thats the most important thing! And remember, its YOUR big day not your families so do what you want!! Good Luck!!

| You ladies are the best... when I wrote that the other day I was like "AAARRRHHHHH" bc we were in vendor meeting after vendor meeting. I couldn't remember the details even though I put them into my iPad after each meeting. I liked a photographer and for 3 days before we officially booked them I could not think of the name of them! LOL I am feeling sooo much better now. Our wedding will be towards the simple side, the hall speaks volumns, it's gorgeous, that is big bc I don't need ceremony anything but the JP and to write up our ceremony. The DJ does a ton of work and is sooo organized that I think he'll be VERY beneficial. I don't need to coordinate guests or rides or anything. My gown was fun, cake tasting will be fun, and my ring was easy bc it's the matching one to my engagement ring. So it's already picked out for me. Now that the hall, photographer & DJ are secured, I feel so much better. A friend is making simple invitations so we'll save money there. We'll print out stuff for us and I have good simple, elegant ideas for the favors & centerpieces. We made 78 8oz jars of homemade grape jelly from the grapes we grow in our yard!! Its our favors. They are awesome! We are going to make stickers which we will print ourselves with our names and wedding date and tie a ribbon around the covers, thats it. I have winter to do that. Centerpieces, there are only 10 tables I think so the centerpieces will be empty cleaned wine bottles that I will spray paint with chalkboard paint. I will then put some sort of long steam flower on them and glue some wide purple ribbon right around the neck with our names and wedding date written on it. Then we will write the name of the table, which each table will be a wine name, on it with chalk. That is it. Ive got lots of ideas.... Will just keep it simple and use stuff I have to help and save money!

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Omg hon - I just wanted to give you a hug. I can't believe what wedding planning demands - some people have no idea. I had a teensy, teensy, could-not-be-teensier wedding...and even I was stressed. But if I'd planned a regular wedding? Whoa. I really truly feel for you! Hey, there is always Vegas !
