| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | The only thing that worked for me consistently was weight watchers. I haven't tried Jenny Craig, mainly because of the cost. Nutri System worked, but as soon as I stopped buying the food I put the weight back on because I hadn't learned how to eat "real" food the right way.

| I tried Nutrisystem for 2 months. I paid appr $230 per month (they gave me a discount). The meals were like MREs and didn't need to be refrigerated. Some of it was good (the desserts) and some was not so good. I had to buy so much food (vegetables, dairy, meat, etc.) to supplement the plan I decided to just stop my membership and just buy all my food at the store. I did learn what to eat and what was low calorie - low fat, and portion control. So that was a good thing. I did lose weight, but very slowly. Overall I lost about 10 lbs, so I went from 120 to 110. So far I've been able to keep it off. I got tired of the food really fast and wouldn't go back, but that is just my opinion and I'm sure there are lots of people really like it.

| I couldn't believe when I saw this thread. I had just asked my daughter for diet suggestions. I've tried them all. I do think WW is the healthiest, but if I'm not going to stick to it I don't see the point in joining. I am lucky if I can stay on it for a week. My daughter purchased the Nutrisystem and after a few weeks sent the rest of the food back. |

As far as taste goes, I think they are nasty! Everyone raves about the cookies and cream shake, but it was too chaulky and not sweet for my taste. Needless to say, I will not be consuming them. My taste buds rule over my desires to eat healthy. ![]() As far as nutrition goes, they are actually pretty good. I took a class with a registered dietitian. I had her look at the label, and it is pretty balanced as a meal replacement. If this helps any, my dad is epileptic and takes strong medication to control the seizures. The medicine is so strong, it was starting to ruin his liver. He's not a drinker, unless you count the few times he has the communion wine. He started with the shakes, and then completely changed his eating habits. He is so healthy now! He was able to find a balance between the drugs and nutrition. He still takes the Herbalife supplements, and has a shake in the morning everyday. When he's lazy, or doesn't have an appetite for food, he has a shake. The man recovered from hernia surgery in 2 weeks and has no scar! The surgeons were surprised at just how clean his body is. I personally could never live like that. I love food too much, and as someone else said, my brain does not tell me when to stop. I'm a very greedy eater. What I did was download an app to my iPod, and it holds me accountable for what I eat. So far, I lost about 20 lbs. I've been "off the wagon" this month because my boyfriend is visiting from South America. He'll be gone after next week. No more eating out and no more extra calories!

| And, when you do eat, the body saves everything as fat. It's in starvation mode and wants to make sure it's reserves are up.

I love the shakes! But I love all the different ones - dreamsicle; key lime pie, etc. So, I look forward to them. Now if I can just quit eating chips N dip! I'm going to do one of their classes the next one they do. 3-4 women in unit at work go to the classes and I think this will help me as well. Thanks for the info!

There is one lady who is obese and has been coming here for years to get help with weight management. She has gained more than she has lost. She thinks the shakes are a magic solution to her obesity. She comes here to eat the shake for breakfast, and on any given day immediately goes to IHOP afterward to eat pancakes. Nothing is a magic pill, powder, or technique. That just doesn't exist.
