| What excuses do you hear? When it comes to all the chores we do for our pups, and I know you guys know what I mean, does anyone help? What excuses do you hear from your loved ones as to why they don't help with the pups? Here's some I hear. For not wanting to help at bath time- "We're trying to win his affection, giving him a bath isn't going to help." Or picking up poop- "You always ask us about it later. We might as well leave it for you."

| I guess it's a mommy thing! Any sign of softness and I have to do something to help him. But I know it's just an excuse.

| From my son: I am NOT walking a 5 lb dog with a pink harness around the neighborhood! So, I can understand this and say, what about Ringo? (The dog HE picked up and has to be walked constantly). "I can't walk Ringo right now. I'm tired and I have a swim meet/paper due/final exam/test (insert any excuse here).

| Funny that I find this thread when I get on here. Princess just missed the pad & DD discovered it first, I told her to wipe it up with the pad. She said "I can't touch those, they have pee on them". I told her the clean ones don't. As for rarely wanting other help I have to throw in her face that she wanted Princess, too. Then she'll do whatever. Basically whatever needs to be done in a timely manner I do myself.

| Excuses?? Whats that?? My DH will walk by it and yell out to me Jada or Boige missed the pad or one of the dogs pooped. Heck he has even called me at work to tell me one of them missed the pad, so be careful when you come home and watch where you step. He will not touch a poop or clean up an accident.

| Of the 6 dogs, only 1 actually belongs to me. If I get excuses I remind the other petparent around here that I am the one that makes the apointments for the dogs, takes the dogs to apointments, acquires the food, makes the bowls up,purchases the meds, stays up with a sick animal (even if it isn't mine) and cleans the carpets where they have shed, licked and on occasion thrown up. I do not normally walk the dogs first thing in the morning or last at night, nor in rain, snow, sleet or hail (not the mailman). So excuses just arent going to add up to what mom does do. If someone poops outside and it doesn't look normal, somebody had better come get me so I can look. |

| When my kids were still in grade school they talked me into getting them a dog. They promised they would do all the work and I would not have to worry about the dog. Ha! I was working and going to college at the time and did not need the care of another living being. Of course all their promises fell through. They had school and activities and I was left with a dog that still was not potty trained. I was going to try to find a new home for the dog but figured that would be irresponsible. So I made the dog MY dog. I trained him and we became fast friends for many years. |

| Before I got Sparky, my family made sure to let me know that he is my dog and i will be solely responsible. And they lived up to their word.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Okay generally speaking DH is good. But on feeding the pups, I answer for each animal, how much of what kind of food, what additive goes in whose bowl, where the dog dishes are kept(hasn't changed places in 4 yrs!), oh and yes where the dog food is kept (i admit to changing that place about 2 yrs ago). By the time I finish doing this, I end up in the kitchen to "supervise" the feeding. Now excuses I've heard about bath time 1) he is too small I might hurt him (for Razzle 2) Magic doesn't like me to bathe him...so you have to 3) Zoey's tail is too long I don't know how to wash her. But he has been really good lately, since my joints have been acting up. Oh yes does anyone get the HE/SHE is your dog, when the dog has been bad?
