| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I absolutely agree that if you are going to coupon and stockpile that you should also be donating. I've been fortunate enough to be able to donate a bag of groceries to a church food bank every time I do one of my big trips. It doesn't cost me much more than the tax on the items and I pass right by it on my way home. The Publix I go to know me well, and they pack my donation stuff separately so I can just grab it and run in to give it to the ladies.

| I am a coupon enthusiast and have a stockpile. My stockpile is not like the people on the show and I don’t really stock up much on food unless it can be frozen. I do have lots of TP and other HB items. The way I look at it is in today’s economy its best to have some things you use the most on hand. Before I started to coupon I mostly bought generic brands but now I find that I can buy name brands for a lot less that the generic . It also does not take too long to shop you have to realize that the people on the show do not shop that way all the time its more for the show . I am on a forum that is run by the man that did the donations for the troops and he said that he does not have the time to shop like that every day. It takes me about 4 hrs on Sunday to do my shopping but I am going to 4 to 5 stores . I shop 3 days out of the week . It is fun and have saved a lot of money and I love to save money. I also have been donating to my moms church and to local womens shelters. I love to be able to give back more that anything. Last edited by shamrocks; 04-19-2011 at 11:13 AM. |

I could never ever grocery shop 3 days out of the week though, I can't even stand going once a week so if that's what it takes, I'm out LOL. I do use coupons when I come across them though and look for sales while I'm shopping and then stock up a little bit on things we use alot when I see a really good deal I can't imagine though, the one lady on there said she spends 30 hrs. a week doing it

I can spend hours in the mall or Target etc. but the grocery store, I'm in and out as fast as possible lol. not sure what it is, I guess it's more fun to shop for clothes and stuff instead of food? idkActually though, I wouldn't mind figuring out how to get paper products(paper towel and tp) for next to nothing. That would at least be something cause I hate how darn much that stuff costs more than anything else.

I try to just stock up on stuff that will not go bad or has a long shelf life. The TP and paper towel deals don’t seem to come around as much as the HB deals. I have a ton of body wash and deodorant; I just picked up some Nivea for $.04 the other day at Target. It takes some time to learn each stores coupon policy but after that it is fun and easy. | |

| I can't believe what I'm watching. It's really shocking. I can probably spend in a convenience store what these people save at the grocery store. I should probably start using some coupons I suppose though.

| I looooooove this show...I think I have borderline OCD issues and COULD never keep that much crap in my house but it's fascinating to me that these people can. The organization and the execution is amazing in my opinion, that's the part I LOVE!!! I'm a fresh food/meat health nut (although I love my sweets) and eating all that processed garbage will definitely turn you into an unhealthy individual. Still.....so COOL!!!! ![]() ![]() Viv

That's the thing, I try to eat/make/serve my family as little of "processed" food as possible, I try to by organic and shop at farmer's markets. I LOVE that show though and if I could just accomplish that with at least paper products, cleaning supplies and things like deodorant, toothpaste etc., I'd be happy I did just learn how to make "homemade" laundry detergent from a friend though, that alone saves tons of $$ I agree with you too, I could NEVER have all that stuff all over my house, organized or not lol.

| Getting the chance to use coupon is pretty amazing, but using it extremely is kinda annoying. It's as if the shoppers pretty much hoard the items at the shopping center. It's good to spend less but the question is, can we consume all the things we purchased with the coupon before it expires? We're all looking to save cash in these troubled times. Coupon cutting is one way to conserve cash on groceries and other products. But not every penny is worth the cost of earning it. TLC's reality show "Extreme Couponing" depicts an action that, for some, may become a dark obsession. Article source: Coupon clipping can help but it has a dark side. |
