I think they get a "high" having so much stuff stock piled and seeing how much they can get free..
I could understand someone who donated half of it to homeless shelters and food pantries etc..but I would not enjoy knowing I had 500 rolls of toliet paper in the garage...what security is that...give what you do not need away...some of that stuff has to go bad long before they can use it...I do not care if mustard lasts forever..most food stuff does not...

x2! And most of the coupons I do find, the Great Value brand is STILL cheaper! I buy Great Value in most things because there's not much of a difference in taste.

Me, too. I'm a coupon mama, but it takes me only about an hour or maybe an hour and a half to get ready for my trips. There are certain things I do stockpile (shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash etc) because I would rather get it for 50 cents when it's on sale with my q's than pay full price when I need it. I subscribe to The Coupon Game to help me match rock bottom prices to the coupons so I can stockpile, but I have limits as to how many I keep on hand in my stockpile (usually about 3 months worth). I'm thrilled when I can break the 50% mark on my savings.

Obviously, I have a lot to learn if I want to catch up with those ladies.

I use to do the major couponing thing. I had the huge notebook and got my weekly coupons from the paper and certain websites. I was addicted although I really did not have the time. I never bought excessive amounts of anything that we did not use. The most thing I stock piled were the hygene items. I got so addicted to it, I had to quit. It was comsuming me too bad. I was a member of a coupon club on yahoo and that is where some of the local ladies would lay the "deals" out.

I didn't like how they would go and buy the stores out just to stock pile (not needed). Some were given to local churches or if a family was in need. What disturb me was they thought nothing of going in a store and wiping it out for that weeks deal when someone like me or you may have only wanted 1 or 2.

The other thing I didn't like is how they would tell you (example) if you go to target they just put out there glade candes in the can and they have $1.00 off coupons inside. There is a special coming up next week on those candles. The coupon is right under the lid.

So what they were saying was go steal the coupons out og the can and not buy the item. These were church ladies. I questioned that, and someone blew me off. I left the web-site after that.

There is alot of ways to save just with the general items you buy. It really is good to able to hook up with a coupon group till you get the hang of it.

My best deal that I could do were at Publix and CVS.

If you have a BOGO most stores will let you use 2-coupons. Check your stores policy on coupons or ask manager.

I didn't watch it, but I did see the commercials. They seem crazy to me too, I mean it is one thing to spend an hour clipping coupons to save a little money but 6 hours??? That's nuts, you are right I would rather spend time with my family and Furbutt~

I watched all the episodes and it is fascinating to watch.
I am a detail oriented person, but I would NEVER have the patience to do what they do.
Most of them said they have full time jobs. I do not understand how they can work full time, and have time to do this! On top of raising families!
I HATE grocery shopping, I would never want to spend 6-7 hours in a store filling 6-8 carts, ugh! Not to mention shopping 3-4 days a week. Sounds like torture to me!
On the other hand it has planted the seed to at least pay more attention to coupons for normal shopping.
I would hope that more of them do donate to shelters, food banks, and churches. There is no way they can use all the stuff they buy before items pass expiration dates.
I mean seriously, who needs 62 bottles of mustard??

That is what I told BF, I shop the fresh foods around the perimeter and I hardly ever see coupons for that type of stuff. I will say too, except for 1 woman all the other women, their husbands and even their kids were either overweight or obese. I think when you stockpile food like that, it tends to be stuff that is processed and higher in fat and calories, also having that much in the house, to me, would mean I could eat as much as I want.

Yes, it seemed like a lot of pop, cereal, fruit drinks, boxed pasta, boxed macaroni & cheese, boxed snacks, candy, etc...

One of the families impressed me. The lady who shops to plan out 90 meals at a time. She seemed to really get what she needed to plan for her family.
I think a lot of the others (again unless they donate to charities) just bought way more then needed!

yeah, for me too.. planted that seed to at least keep a look out and use the coupons I actually DO have!
That woman with the mustard, she bought all those bottles because with her coupons and the deal she was PAID $.10 a bottle. So she MADE money buying the mustard. But now what? She has 62 bottles and no one can buy any? It's RUDE! Even her husband was like 'uumm leave at least one or two" and she was like "oh yeah, I forget other people need this stuff too" and laughs. These women buy things they don't even need or use because they MAKE money on it with their coupons. That to me is SAD. What about the people who do use those things, you left them with NOTHING!

I used to cashier at a grocery store and was amazed at what some people would save although nothing like on the show. I started to really hit the coupons thing then and I really managed to save a lot of money without much effort. I used to have then energy to go to the different grocery stores to catch the sales and I still do between 2 stores now but not as often as I probably should. At best I did manage to save $58.00 out of $90 some dollars--I was a happy camper.

I don't mind stocking up on paper goods but the food stuff is a bit nutty. I do go to Sam's club and get the bulk items. I like not having to run out for tp or papertowels. It saves me time and effort, which is valuable to me.

You gotta wonder though, if these people are spending 3, 4 or 5 hours shopping and then however long it takes to checkout...their dairy and meat items have got to be spoiling. I don't understand why they don't break it down into smaller checkouts like paper products, non perishables, produce and regerated items. I know that as a cashier, it would have been a whole lot easier for everyone, especially if a coupon didn't scan correctly. That was always a nightmare.

That was my thought exactly! One woman used their bedrooms for storage. Can you imagine sleeping a grocery store every night?
