| I haven't had a cigarette since January 10th, 2009. I also use electronic cigarettes. This is the only time I've quit that I absolutely known that I'll never go back. Since I did it, my brother and his wife (who has severe COPD) have done it and so had my sister and her husband, all at their Dr's recommendation. I'm very satisfied and it doesn't have the multitudes of harmful chemicals that combustion creates. Two days before my mother passed away last year she told me how much it meant to her that she now had no children that smoked. If you're interested PM me and I can recommend some websites. I don't mean to sound like a salesman but I know that this little device has the potential to save lives.

| Stay with it and I applaud your resolve. I can't believe I used to smoke as I am now terrified of them. |

| I am so encouraged to hear everyone's stories! I have been smoking since I was 15. I, like everyone else wish I had never touched them! I've tried to quit several times and nothing seems to work for me. As soon as I get ticked off, or am bored, I'm right back to it! ![]() My husband always brags about how he did it. It upsets me because he acts as if he is stronger willed than I but in all reality, he went from smoking to dipping snuff?! I haven't tried chantix yet though, I would love too. Going to talk to my dr about it. Only downfall is it isn't covered by insurance! I guess they would rather dish out money to pay for cancer treatment than for someone to possibly quit?!

| I think it's awesome that you guys are quitting. I quit 10 years ago this past New Years, it was hard, but I did have the help of Wellbutrin. I basically psyched myself up that if I could make it through the 1st day, then the next 2 days, I could do it forever. (they say by the 3rd or 4th day most of the physical cravings are gone.) I don't crave it anymore consciously, but I still dream about doing it...and in my dream I'm so mad at myself! Then, thank God, I wake up! lol.

| I just wanted to say I'm so proud of everyone who has quit ![]() My mom smoked for many years, she started when she was 14. Two years ago, in her mid 50's, she woke up one morning disoriented. She couldn't read the clock, her eyes wouldn't focus, and she fell out of bed, unable to stand up. She was rushed to the hospital, and it turns out she had a stroke. I tell you, it was DEVASTATING for me to find out and go to the hospital and see her like that. I was crying and she tried to look at me but her eyes just rolled around in her head. It was so scary to see my mom, who was always strong and in charge of everything, look so helpless and unable to control herself at all. Luckily, she recovered almost fully within a week or so. She slurs her speech a bit when she gets tired, but other than that, she's on medication every day, and she's back to normal. The doctor told her to quit smoking, and she did, or so I thought. About 5 months later I was visiting and I caught her smoking. I was so upset and so angry. It wasn't a question of IF she'd have another stroke by continuing to smoke, it was WHEN. I cried my eyes out and told her she was lucky to get through the first one, and I will not sit by and watch her do it again, because she will NOT be that lucky the next time, and I can not lose my mom yet, I couldn't pretend it was okay. A lot of people told me this was too harsh, but I told my mom I wasn't going to be around anymore if she insisted on killing herself. It's her life, but it affected MY life. The next day, she started the patch, and she hasn't touched a cigarette since. My mom is happier than she's ever been, her whole demeaner is so much more care free and fun, and our relationship is better than it ever was before. I didn't think she'd ever quit, but she did, and it is amazing the change it's made in her life. So
