Thor's Human Donating Member | What is your morning routine? Like 90% of the population, I resolved this new year to be healthier. One of the things I'd like to do is get into a healthier morning routine. I work from home a lot, so usually what I do is stumble out of bed, grab a diet soda out of the fridge, and then play video games until I'm sufficiently alert to start working. I've managed to switch the diet soda out for tea/coffee, but what do people do while they are still waking up? Eating is usually the last thing I want to do when I wake up, but I am making myself eat a little watermelon (even that is an effort). I tried taking Thor out for a walk first thing, but he is definitely not a morning dog. He likes to get his twelve hours in. I don't like reading the news, because it's always depressing, and I feel like that's a terrible way to start the day. Sometimes I stretch, but I need something where I can simulatenously consume the massive amounts of caffeine I need to be minimally coherent. Any ideas??

| Sorry...no help either. Let the pups out, grab a coffee, and then Mario Kart for about a half before starting to work. Oh well, maybe someone else will have some great input for you..... |

Personally, it's get up, eat right away, shower, skin care routine, get dressed, grab the coffee that I put on earlier, and out the door to work. About 45 minutes total. | |

| Usually something like: Monday - Thursday: Roll out of bed at 6:45. Feed pup, take her out, and crate her. Get dressed. Throw stuff in backback including garbage food for lunch. Maybe try and finish some homework. Leave by 7:15 diet soda in hand to get me through the morning. Friday - Sunday: Sleep til anywhere from 9-12. Roll out of bed. Go on the computer and throw some food at the pup. Do nothing for as long as possible. Easier to eat my sugary cereal on these days.

Thor's Human Donating Member | Mmm, forgot about the shower. I shower at night to unwind, but it wakes me up in the morning too. Maybe I can get a sippy cup and take my coffee in there with me.

I roll out at 6 and usually have to wake lazy-bones up and carry her outside, because she is not a morning dog, either. Then I feed her. Next, I grab my milk and vitamins (don't drink coffee) and proceed to get ready and leave by usually 7:40, sometimes earlier.

| When the alarm goes off I get up and start getting ready- shower, hair, makeup, dressed, etc. THEN I go make the dogs get up- they prefer to sleep late- I attempt to feed them- if I have to be out of the house early they don't always eat. Then I make some coffee to take with me and get my bag ready. Then I get the dogs bag ready- my mom stops by after lunch and takes them to her house for "free doggy daycare" Then I leave. YEAH! Its terrible, I never get eating in.

| Hmm wake up, go and open doggie door so the little ones can go out if they want to. Check newspaper online, check the obit column, make sure my name isn't there, if it isn't I know I am still alive so I go grab a cup of coffee. After all that exercise I go lay down and watch TV for a little while

| Possible Morning Routine Starters -- Read your Bible if so inclined. Many "read the Bible in a year" plans you can follow online or do as a group. --Read Yorketalk. --Read some in a book on Kindle (or you could use a real book). --Play word games on Kindle -- many are free! (Or just do crosswords, jumble, etc). --Answer some emails. --Catch up on Facebook. --Walk, jog, morning exercises. --Watch a TIVO'd sitcom from night before. FF thru commercials, you can condense it to @ 16 minutes! Don't like sitcoms? Try Rachel Ray, a mystery or one of the million crime shows offered. Or you could watch morning exercise shows. --Pay some bills. --Crochet, knit, needlepoint? --Write in your journal. I did this religiously for a year and a half then suddenly stopped. Not sure why as it was very cathartic. --Start something in the crock pot for lunch or dinner.

| 6am-7am I wake up to my girl in my face growling(she has to go potty!). Start coffe pot and take her out. After about 5-10 minutes, depending how hard headed she is that morning, I get her back in the house. Then she takes me by my leash to the kitchen to fix her breakfast, which I endure alot of her "micro-managing", watching my every move and all...I think you know what I mean. She is constantly staring at me. I can't even sip my coffee "on the job" without a look like "what in the $#%^ do you think you're doing, feed me." I give my boss her food then it's off to her little kids. They are sitting at my bedroom door with the same looks like their momma, they learn so well! After feeding the "romper room children" I finally get to sit down and enjoy my coffee...nope, here comes the boss because, after all that food now she has to poop. Do you believe sometimes I have to wipe her hiny too? Man, if I only had it made like that...............and that is just the start of my day. |

| Recently, Monday-Friday morning I've been waking up around 9 (I'm in college, classes don't start 'til later! ). I go to the bathroom, then I take Jackson outside. Sometimes I crawl back into bed for another 30 minutes with Jackson. He's not really a morning dog either. Once I get up, I eat my bowl of cereal and watch Boy Meets World (haha - I DVR them). Then I start up the Wii Fit to get myself movin'. So I do about 30 mins of that in the AM. And lately, I've been doing 10-15 minutes of the elliptical in the morning too. I take my showers at night but do my hair in the mornings. Around 11:00am, I head out of the house and do all my dogwalking for the day, bring Jackson back home (if I had him w/ me) and then off to school Tues & Thurs anyways.
