Question Does Anyone clip coupons?

I've never been a coupon clipper, I will occasionally use one if I see it at a store next to an item I'm buying, other then that I never bothered. I was watching a program a few days ago on TLC called, Extreme Coupons, something like that. It featured one lady who was a big coupon user, she purchased over $600 on groceries, and after applying her coupons she paid like $2!! I was blow away. It made me think I should pay more attention to coupons, I would gladly spend the saved $$$ on more stuff for my two fur butts

I do use them, but only on things that I normally buy anyway. I don't buy things just because there are coupons available.

I love that TLC show! I would love to know how to coupon clip and SAVE like that
Once I had a few coupons for the grocery store and I also had a "Spend $50 or more and save 50%". So with my other coupons my total I would have been $90 (including my "club card" savings)and I only paid $40. The cashier said that was the most he'd ever seen someone save.
I've noticed though that those people on TV who save like that...buy "garbage foods" you know. Very rarely are there many fruits and vegatables....just processed junk.

My daughter is a penny pincher. LOL, she's only 19. She's been checking the sale ads and hunting down coupons for me. She's determined to figure out all the tricks, but we don't have the grocery stores here that double coupons. We also went on line to get multiple coupons for an item that was on sale, and we were limited to only 2 coupons. It's a full time job hunting down those coupons, clipping them, organizing them, then traveling to all the different stores to take the fullest advantage of their sale. Just to try it, we (my daughter and I) got up on Saturday morning, organized our coupons, created a plan with lists on what stores for what items, then out we went. We started at 9:00 a.m. and didn't return until 4:00 and we stayed local. Well, Saturday is my day off and I don't mind saving and taking a few coupons, but I don't have the energy or patience for that. I was exhausted. But, I won't have to shop now except for bread and milk for 3-4 weeks, and we figured we saved around 75.00. I did have an incredibly fun time with my daughter though.

I use coupons mostly at our Rite Aid. If you watch their sales ads, use the coupons, and the Rite Aid dollars that you get back on certain items, you can save a ton of cash. I go there all the time and at most spend $5.00 and leave with a buggy full of stuff!

I used to be into it big time including rebates.

I would love to start a round robin.

I was in one with about 6 other women. We would put in $.50+ coupons for items we didn't usually purchase take out the coupons we could use and send the bunch of them off to the next person on the list We all had the same list. If a coupon was expired we would discard it before sending them off.

We were all really happy with the arrangement until the original member got nasty about us forwarding certain coupons for lesser amounts to people we knew wanted them. For example women with children could usually use the packaged cereal coupons and one woman used a certain brand of fiber supplement. It was cool. Would anyone be interested in starting one?

We don't get the newspapers - read the ones we want online, so don't get the coupons. But we shop at BJ's and we get their coupon booklets each month so if there is something in there we buy then we will use the coupon. Also when we go to the commissary there are coupons there so we do sometimes pick them up.
I used to do a lot of coupon shopping years ago, but would still only use them on things we normally buy. I used to stock up with detergent and non-perishables that way.

I would love to know where people get those coupons also! I grocery shop at Walmart and they never have coupons in their sale ads so I never save anything.

You can get a lot of coupons on line.

Coupons | Online Coupons

I love coupons. I just got back from shopping this afternoon. I spent $68.00 on $132.00 worth of stuff.

My best deals today were 3 boxes of band aids and a tube of neosporin for $2.32
2- 4 packs of Yo Plus yogurt for FREE and 2 packs of pads for 75 cents. I don't think I've paid more than 50 cents for toothpaste, deodorant or tooth brushes for years.

Ok...this is a little late posting on this thread, but I just saw this and have to comment.
I'm a HUGE couponer. Honestly, it's not unusual for me to end up paying only tax on things. Literally, I can get $100 worth of stuff for $1 sometimes and then get rebates that let me end up profiting on my purchase! Some weeks are better than others, depending on the ads/coupon match ups. There are so many sites out there that make it so easy to do things. They've already matched the store sale ad with coupons and then you just have to go out there and organize your stuff to take to the store!

I know on the one forum I look at there have been threads where a lot of the stay-at-home moms on there say that they feel like they have been able to stop working part time and stay home with their kids and coupon seriously and they end up saving more than they made...plus say home with their kids.
It takes a little time to get organized (more for some people...like me who are easily distracted or have a crazy little dog who constantly wants to play, play, play) and it takes a little time to build up your stockpile so you can get to the point that you are only buying the basic perishables and everything else you get for free or as close to free as possible. There are some things I know I don't ever have to pay for (toothpaste, for example, is always free). And never underestimate the drug stores....they are a great way to get free things with coupons!

Here are some sites to get started:

hotcouponworld.com (huge forum, lots of national stores listed to match coupons with).

hip2save.com

freestufftimes.com

southernsavers.com

There are some good store specific ones too, if you have them in your area:
iheartwags.com
iheartcvs.com
iheartriteaid.com
iheartkroger.com
iheartpublix.com

P.S. Wal-Mart is the worst with coupons and you'll end up paying too much compared to shopping at drug stores and grocery stores! Almost every couponer will say tell you this.

Hope this helps anyone who is interested get started! Any effort that it takes is worth it! Trust me! Honestly, I could be the richest person in the world and I would still coupon because I wouldn't be able to stand paying for things that I know I could get for free! (When you walk out paying pennies what normally would have cost $$ you will feel like you have just won the lottery)! Plus, it's more fun to take the money you would have spent and buy something more fun anyway.

Also, to the OP: I saw you're in Canada which, unfortunately, Canada is not good for coupons at all I'm Canadian also and every time I go home it KILLS me to not be able to get a decent deal on anything.
