The Bachelor - Brad part 2

LOL, I was skeptical before, but after last night I am even more so. I do believe some girls go into that show not knowing what is going on, but I do believe Michelle is an informant for Brad or placed and is acting for ratings, and Brad is in on it. To me, it seems like his affection or feelings towards her are forced. When she is having a spat, his poor acting skills really show through, like he is forcing himself to have a reaction to it. He gets on to one girl about her drama which was nothing compared to Michelle's but he let's Michelle get away with it and keeps her...Even her crying last night seemed fake. And, after all this, I still can't stop watching. I need a life!

I actually think a lot of those people just want to be on TV; would liketo get into acting; have their 15 minutes of fame, whatever.

So, yah, I think a lot of it is staged and heavily edited.

But I can't take my trashy eyes off of it!

Plus, on occasion my 15 year old will wander in and provide his running commentary ~ which is pretty funny too.

Oh...and I suppose I am going a bit off topic. Maybe I should start a thread about it...I really would like to get some feedback on it. I honestly do not understand.

I love these shows because I think humans are fascinating, and I love trying to understand why they do what they do. Can someone fall in love on camera, of course, women fall in love with inmates in prison through prison letters, but I guess we have to ask ourselves what it means to fall in love. I think you have to have an intense attraction to that person, and then experience a few pleasurable times with them, and boom you're "in love." However, being in love with someone isn't the same as loving someone, Americans seems to thing being "in love" is the preferred feeling. Psychologists study the dynamics of falling in love, and for men, it happens faster they when they are experiencing action or dangerous type of things. Get a man's adrenaline rushing and he's more likely to bond with you. Bungee jumping and other scary activities will make a man bond, it also explains why men and women are attracted to dangerous types of individuals. (Warning!!! This doesn't work long term, most heathy people want people that make them feel safe and secure.) Adrenaline, dopamine, and serotonin are the three neurotransmitters responsible for falling in love, and for the initial attraction. Woman experience more intense bonding through talking, and can fall in love with just a few conversations. The basis of marriage should be about loving someone not just being in love, and when we truly love, we accept flaws in a person, but we are aware of them. These programs really never allow anyone to get to know each other, but only give you a chance to meet attractive people and go on fantastic journey together. Let's face it, the dates are much more than just dinner and a movie.


Professor Arthur Arun, has been studying why people fall in love.
He asked his subjects to carry out these three steps:

1. Find a complete stranger.
2. Reveal to each other intimate details about your lives for half an hour.
3. Then, stare deeply into each other’s eyes without talking for four minutes.

He found that many of his couples felt deeply attracted after the 34 minute experiment. Two of his subjects later got married.


The people on the bachelor do this every week, and then go on wonderful dates, so you can see why they "think" they are in love. What I don't get is why the women very seldom question if he's worthy of them, why they think the man is the one, and I'm guessing that it's due to the competition factor, if everyone else think he's a great catch, he must be a great catch.

I'm starting to feel a little irritated by Brad's constant look of "deer in the headlights" -- as if everything these women feel/do/say is so mystifying. I think some of the on-camera obsessing is needed for the show/Brad's narrative...but still. Makes him seem a little wishy-washy.

Emily is so lovely...but she still seems to be holding her cards close to her chest. I'm not sure there's enough chemistry btwn Brad and Emily either...

Ha ha, dear in headlight, that's so true, honestly he seems so frightened at times. The weird part of all of this is he and his brothers own three nightclubs in Texas, and I keep thinking he's had the opportunity to be around women all his life, why does he even need this show? I'm not sure if it's an act or he's just awkward. I saw him last season, and he actually is more fun loving this season.

Ann you're a word person, do you notice anything unusual about his speech? There's something about his speech that seems odd to me, and I think it's the way he uses adverbs, but I'm not sure, it's really bugging me though.

i hate michelle she's annoying me so much. she thinks she is so hot and all he would want but rather than form a real relationship she's just talking about sending others home. he'll get sick of her soon enough i'm sure.

i am starting to see the Chantal bond budding now. i think it's going somewhere now.

btw Nancy i'm excited that those big life threatening activities increase love and a bond because right before my husband and I plan to get pregnant we are going to go sky diving this summer. i'm super excited and can't wait to feel that kind of rush with him. can you imagine the rush and the love we'll feel having already been in love for real to begin with XD XD

Michelle says things that give it away that she has no feelings for Brad, instead of saying she falling for him, she'll say, "I'm going to make him fall in love with me". She does make the show interesting, and I loved it when the girls questioned who gave Brad a hard time about the rose not being handed out and finally got Michelle to admit that she went to his room. These girls have all the qualities of a good Yorkietalker! They don't just buy anything people say.

She actually has been pretty good around him much of the time, and she does project an air of "confidence", and men like that. She's not really confident though, and when she nagged him about the other girls, I think this almost got her booted, but they have had some pretty intense kissing and she does that well, and she acts like she listens to him. She's also beautiful, and some men like that sort of thing!

Totally agree! Michelle is just Annoying all around. I felt bad for Brad to put up with that. I definitely think they are keeping her there for the drama.

Brad seems to be a true gentleman. He was on the Jay Leno show & what a great sport he was.

I always wonder if they plant people that are trouble makers. How obnoxious. Brad seems sweet and last night seemed irritated with Michelle. I don't get what he sees in her. Those eyebrows would scare me...muhahahahahahahaha
