I don't usually judge people with tattoos, but do wonder sometimes why a person chose to have certain tattoos permanently applied to their body. Since it is a fad and a trend of this generation, I would say, "Beware, fads end. Tattoos fade and sag and your mindset in 20 years may change about things. I would wager that most who have tattoos regret some aspect of them. Why do anything permanent that you could regret later?"

| No Longer a Member | "I was 16 when I got my first tattoo. It is a tribal on the bottom of my back, I will admit I knew I WANTED a tattoo.. but I didnt really think about what it was I wanted. So I ended up getting this tribal that I kinda liked just for the sake of getting a tattoo. I went to a local tattoo place just because they were near by" Similar to mine, only I was 18 and fresh out of Basic, everyone else was doing it so I didn't really take a lot of time to think about what I wanted and the fact that it's permanent. So I have a tribal scorpion on my right shoulder blade. It's not terrible but I'm no longer a fan of it. I love tattoos and when I get back to the states and find a artist that I trust I'm going to get them to help me do a cover-up. I love tattoos when they are done right, I'm not a fan of sleeves or face/head tattoos. I like the idea of being able to show off the ink, but at the same time being able to cover it up when at work or at a business function. |

| I want to get a tattoo of Kaji's paw print. He's my little man and I love him so much. I never thought I would have ever come to love a little 4 legged love so much. I know I will probably have more pets in the future, but Kaji's special. All I need now is a private place to put it (even if I was 50, my parents would kill me) and the guts to do it. I'm too chicken.

| This is a picture of my first tattoo. I just got my third tattoo last week. They're addictive!! I have a small heart with ivy wrapping around my big toe and a butterfly on the top of my foot. My latest tattoo, on the top of my other foot, is Proverbs 17:17 which is a friend loves at all times. Me and my two best friends all had that done at the same time!! Oh BTW I just turned 52!!

My first tattoo is a four leaf clover, I found a saying online that each leaf stands for hope, luck, love, faith. I really like that. My second tattoo is my favorite saying- live, laugh, love, but it is in French and in my grandma's handwriting (she moved her from France). Both me and my two younger sisters have it on our feet.

Do you have any idea how long a Peacock Feather can get. We have about 10 peacocks that live across the street from us on 5 acres and are grandfathered in.

| I got my first tattoo on my lower back when I was 18. At the time I just wanted one because my friends had them and they were cool but I did make sure I really liked it and that it stood for something. I decided to get it to mark being on my own for the first time in my life, I had made it through a year of college, living in a new city, paying rent and bills, and surviving on my own! The tattoo is a tribal butterfly on my lower back. The butterfly for me symbolizes being free I still like it, 8 years later. Fast forward about 5 years, I had switched my studies in school, switched schools, switched cities, got in relationships, followed the men in my life wherever they wanted me, had bad breakups, and decided I really need to focus on myself. I started doodling one night and came up with my next tattoo... the Northern lights and stars. Growing up in my hometown we saw the lights all the time and my best memories are sitting outside with my friends, watching them and talking for hours. We would also look for constellations in the sky. My birthday is 6/6 (I was also born in '84... the average of 8 and 4 is 6 but that's kind of stretching it lol!) and 6 has just always been my lucky number. So in the tattoo I have 6 "waves" of the northern lights, 6 big stars, and 6 little stars. Oh, and that's on my upper thigh. It's a little bigger and goes from behind my hip and waves down to the front of my leg, about 1/3 of the way down my thigh. You can't see it unless I'm wearing a bathing suit or short shorts! I agree about tattoos with fancy dresses. I wanted mine hidden and if I get any more they will be hidden. I like my style to be classic and I think really visible tattoos take away from that. A good friend of mine got a maple leaf tattoo on her shoulder blade when she was 16 because she could! When she got married, she was wearing a beautiful strapless gown, and that little tattoo stuck out like a sore thumb.

![]() But I agree with the whole bride/bridesmaid thing. I dont think it looks very nice when you see a bride/bridesmaid covered in tattoos. Mine are where I can hide them, and the one on the top of my back I can either cover with my hair or special makeup. But I would never get any on my arms or anything like that. I just love really artistic tats and tats that have a special meaning.

| Oh I have another story... My old roommate decided to get a tattoo and wanted me to design it for her but she ended up getting the tattoo guy to do it when I didn't want to... I think she was 23 when she got it, and what she got is a rose wrapped around a sword and it's BIG! When she asked me to do it I asked what it meant, what it was for, and she said "Oh I've just always liked the design. I've wanted it since I was like 13" I have known her my whole life and couldn't think of a thing it might signify, other than she just wanted a tattoo. Why a rose? Why a sword? I hope she knows that you don't have to get old biker style tattoos, that they can draw ANYTHING! I know it's her choice and her body but I really don't like it and I think it looks really tacky

| YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I think some tatoos a really gorgeous works of art. but as a long time (now retired) massage therapist, I do get to see how tats survive over time, and how they look on aging bodies. With what I see, I would recommend that tat's be on ankles/top of foot, or even bottom of heel. Wrists and even a small inner elbow.
