What are your thoughts on tattoos? What are your thoughts on tattoos? especially tattoos on women? I have been reading a few stories on online newspaper websites about tattoos and everyone who comments seems to think tattoos are horrible and that tattoos on women are disgusting. One poster even went as far to say that even if a women was the most beautiful women in the world, she would be vile if she had a tattoo. Personally I love tattoos, and I have 4 myself. I think tattoos can look good on both men and women aslong as they are well done. But a bad tattoo will look bad on ANYONE. No matter what it is or where it is. Do you have any tattoos? How old were you when you got your first tattoo? and do you have any tattoo regrets? I will be the first to admit I have regrets though... and would urge ANYONE to think long and hard before getting a tattoo, making sure they go to a good artist no matter the price. You get what you pay for most of the time. I was 16 when I got my first tattoo. It is a tribal on the bottom of my back, I will admit I knew I WANTED a tattoo.. but I didnt really think about what it was I wanted. So I ended up getting this tribal that I kinda liked just for the sake of getting a tattoo. I went to a local tattoo place just because they were near by and they would tattoo me under-age. That SHOULD have been huge red flags to me but because I was 16 and stupid I went for it. The tribal itself is okay but the colour is patchy, it has been done twice and still looks like crap. I got my second tattoo which is a swirly kinda tribal patten on my tummy in the same year, I went to the same place (dont know why im stupid) and needless to say that its a patchy peice of crap too. I then went somewhere else for a pink bow on the inside of my right wrist when I was 17 this is okay.. thankfully. I then went back to the same place I got the bow from when I was 18 and had some stars tattood from my neck down to my shoulder blade, one of the stars faded away completley in the space of 6 months (have no idea why or how) and the stars themselves actually looked more like KABOOM!! things you get in comic books LOL.:thumbdown So last year I did my research and found an amazing tattoo artist. She fixed my stars for me and added beautiful butterflies. She is doing a cover up on my tummy this Saturday with a beautiful humming bird. And she is going to cover up the tribal on the bottom of my back with the most stunning Victoria Frances gothic design in the next couple of months. Like I said, I love tattoos but I wish I had done my research before I ran off and got a load of crap inked on me. So... what are your thoughts? do you have any tattoos? and do you have any regrets? If you have tattoos please post pics! I will post before and after pics of mine after I have my tummy fixed this weekend. |
I think tattoos can be really beautiful. Some people don't like the white ink tattoos...but have you seen them? They're really pretty cool and subtle. I also love Sanskrit tattoos but always worry about having the translation wrong, oy! |
I think white ink tattoos can be lovely for someone who wants a tattoo, but wants to keep it personal and subtle. Do you have any tattoos? |
my thoughts on tattoos they can be a death sentence... you can contract Hepatitis C from getting a tattoo for which there is no known cure....the treatments are extremely expensive that the average person could not afford to pay for...I have a family member like you that loved tattoos and may still lose their young life even after having the costly treatments and is still very sick...No they were not a drug user so no dirty needles unless one was used by the tattoo artist, but the risk does not stop there because they can open a new needle and dip it into the same ink that was already contaminated with the virus from another tattoo lover I just wanted to make you aware of what can follow a pretty tattoo :) |
Thank you. The tattoo artists I have been to have all used new needles and inks but this is something to make people aware of for sure. EDIT: By new inks I mean they pour ink into a small container for use, they then throw out whatever ink is left over in that container and clean/sterilize it. So the ink which is in the bottle never has needles dipped in. |
I don't have any and never will. I suppose everybody's definition of art is different. Personally I'd be absoutely devastated to have my skin changed like that. I prefer pictures and words on paper. :) |
I have one....got it when I was around 22 or 23. It's a 4 leaf clover and is on my pelvis area. No one can see it but me and my hubby :) I wouldn't want one that could be seen personally, and I'm glad I don't have one like that. Where I teach, you CANNOT have a visible tatoo. I know some that have them and have to wear bandaids or bandages over them (like women on ankles, etc.). Would not want to do that. I'd love to be able to have a few stars or something on the top of my foot, but will never get to do that :( That's the only place that I'd want one visible. |
I like tattoos- although not when someone is covered in them. I have 1- got it when I was 17- don't regret it at all, its small and on my foot and I think it looks nice still. You do have to be careful, as with all things- you need to make sure they use new needles and ink and that everything in the place is sterile. I would like to get one more, I have had the design picked out for years, so I know it is something I really want and not something I would regret. |

I'm not crazy about them. My oldest son has two (and wants more). He got a crucifix and rosary beads on his upper arm. Now when he's at work he has to wear a shirt that covers it. Last summer he got one that I do like. It's on his lower leg. It says Family when you look at it one way and Forever when you look at it the other way (Family Forever). He wants to get St. Michael the Archangel on his other arm. Whatever you get, make sure you really like it because they are very expensive to have removed. |
