| I think tattoos are cool. & maybe I'm the only one who thinks this but I love seeing tattoos on older men & women. Because there's always a great story behind them. Unlike my generation who goes to tattoo shops like they're Drive-thrus. ![]() I don't have one as of yet. But at this moment I want a Hibiscus flower. My parents are from the Islands & that's their national flower...& I've always thought hibiscus' were breathe taking. But I'm a lil hesitant about getting it. I'm caramel complexioned & I'm not sure if the color will show through enough. & what's the point of getting THAT flower if you can't get the famous vibrant red & yellow. My sister has it on her back & it looks HORRIBLE! Mainly because she let the tattoo artist pick the colors (pink & blue) (which is so stupid) & it looks cartoonish...sorta like the floating flowers in the sky in the Spongebob Squarepants show. Lol. ![]() I also want Roman Numerals on my shoulder blade. I'm just waiting for a significant day or year so I can get it. I'm just hoping it doesn't come out like: MCIIIXIIVCIVVXXIIIVMM People will think I have some kind of alien/Matrix code on my back!! Henna tattoos are also amazing. I love scripture verses. I think japanese writing is cool too...I don't know I'm into a lil of everything. But I think the MAIN reason I haven't gotten a tattoo yet is because of my mother. She raised us as Christians and always told us " your body is God's temple, why would you deface it. Think of someone spray painting on a church... how disrespectul that is. And What is that called? Vandalism. Gettin a tattoo is exactly that." ...I don't know why but that has always stuck with me. |

| I love tatoos, just on other people. ![]() I find the art of tatooing fascinating and love to look at magazines depicting various cultural styles. However, I would never get one. Not because of any reason other than the whole needles, bacteria, viruses, etc! I am already paranoid enough without adding this into the mix. |

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I have nothing against tattoos. I've seen some really good ones and some really bad ones in my life. My main reason for not ever getting one is because I wanted to make sure it would be somewhere that wouldn't sag or stretch out as I got older...that pretty much limits me to just getting on on my little finger

I always felt that way too until I saw a church with a youth room in it that was spray painted in beatiful graffit style walls all about Christ of course...so maybe you can graffit in God's house ![]() my biggest God thing about tattoos is where it says to not mark your body with the dead. that's a direct way to say do not remember the dead in tattoos. hence my reasons for not having them right now. Passage Leviticus 19:28: 28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

I have heard many people quote this passage in reference to tatoos. However, from my studies I believe that another interpretation for this passage is also appropriate. In biblical times when people died, the family that remained would slice their arms and forearms, and then rub the ash from their recently cremated loved one into these cuts; the permanent marks remaining were then referred to as "death marks". This was not only permanent, but this "death mark" was a reminder of the current religious- non-belief in any form of afterlife; which happens to be the cornerstone of Catholicism and Christianity. So by eliminating the death mark, it was a sign that you were a true believer in Christianity and the afterlife with God; as no one truly dies because their soul is eternal. Just thought that it was another interesting interpretation.

| Not a Christian either, but studied theology. It is one of those fascinating topics that no matter how much you study, there is always more to learn. |

| A former classmate of mine posted this today on facebook. Thought of this thread. Have not read it all, so if it has been posted before, sorry. Just thought it was cute. I would like a tattoo, but am too scared of pain.
