| Birthday cake surprise............ I just have got to get this off my chest since I am just so ticked off right now. Yesterday was my husband's surprise 50th birthday party. We had a blast and I really pulled it off too. But there is one thing that I am just livid about right now............his custom birthday cake! When I picked it up on the way to his party I was a little shocked when they brought it out and it looked well............like crap! Just take a look at this picture and tell me if 1. It looks professionally decorated 2. Is it worth $22? 3. Does it look like a CHOCOLATE cake I was so disappointed in how it looked I never even brought it out at the party. It wasn't until today when my husband cut into it that I discovered that it was a yellow dough cake. After getting off the phone with the manager I'm even more ticked off. He only offered me a half refund! I told him that I was going to bring it back to the store and that I expected a FULL refund. OK~that feels better. Now if I could just get rid of this headache.

| Totally not acceptable! When you 'custom order' something it means just that...it was made custom for you, the way you want it and that's what you paid for...a cake made just the way you wanted. Was this the color and design that you ordered? Did they take notes when you ordered? Did they give you a receipt with your colors, preferences and instructions on it? I would return the left over cake and remind the shop of what I ordered in the beginning and demand a full refund. Oh...and... to your husband! |

| I would have been pretty disappointed too. No creativity at all and if they don't have pretty handwriting in icing, then they need to find someone who does or use a stencil of some kind. The letters are all slanted differently. I have done a lot better all by myself for the price of a cake mix. They should def. give your money back, especially since they did not even use the right kind of cake! I have a great cake lady. She charges a little more than the grocery stores, but she makes a memorable cake every time!

| I used to do some cake decorating. You are right...this is crap. Someone was in a big hurry... Good luck on getting your money back. You deserved better than this.

| I called and talked to the manager and he offered me 1/2 price back. After giving him an earful I will be getting a full refund but have to return the cake. He had my order form in from of him and said that I indeed did order a chocolate cake. Really it was the decorations on the cake that got me going in the first place. They are total crap! There are not a lot of good bakeries in this area and I was very excited to see all of the great pastries they offered. Their premade cakes were awesome too so I never dreamed my custom cake would look so bad.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I think it looks "home made"...I would have been disappointed, I know you were in a hurry, but I am the type of person I would have said something when they handed me the cake, and I would have asked if they had a pre-made one they could dress up for me. It was a shame that you were too embarrassed to pull it out at the party...I think it is tacky they are asking for you to bring the cake back, too. I would bring it back and let them know that due to that, you won't be giving them another chance to make it right...for goodness sakes...IT IS A CAKE, that costs a few dollars to make...geesh! |

| Happy Birthday to your husband and congrats to you for pulling off a successful surprise party! I think the bakery owes you your money back PLUS something special to make up for spoiling the cake for such a special occasion. That is ridiculously amateur frosting work. |

| That's terrible. If the manager had any business sense at all, he would have given you a full refund and given you another cake for free, made to your specifications. Idiot! That's how they lose customers. Word of mouth works both ways. |

| Oh not a good looking cake for a professional, I think you did the right thing and demanded your money back. Happy Belated Birthday to your husband on him "milestone" birthday (that is what my friends keep referring to it as, me I am never getting older than 40).

YT 1000 Club Member | I agree with all the posts. It does not look like a custom cake, more like someone was in a hurry on it. I'd definitely carry it back and not sure I would throw it at him after I got my money too... Tell your hubby Happy Birthday!!! Glad he had a good one!
