Default P90X or 10 Minute Trainer? Anyone?

Anybody here doing (or have done) either of these workouts? I've got an old friend who's been talking about it on Facebook (P90X) and she loves it. My husband has seen it on tv and really wants to try it. Only problem is that he has terrible knees. He's had surgery in the past on one of them and still needs surgery on the other (after a bad motorcycle accident). My friend claims that because of the different variations of the workout, he would be able to do this program.

I am leaning towards the 10 Minute Training workout for myself.

Would love to hear how it's going for anyone who's done one of these!

P90X For sure! It is a hardcore workout that you can start at any stage in your life. There are multiple variations of each workout and your husband could totally do it!

They have a guy on the dvd that has a prosthetic leg and can hang with the rest of them!

I love P90X and if you do it for 90 days straight you will see amazing results. Worth every penny.

Yes, that's what she told me too but I'm still not quite convinced (although she says Tony Horton says he shattered his knee in a snow skiing accident also). Every so often, he decides he's going to start walking for exercise and after a couple days of it, his knee will be so bad that it will just give out on him with no notice. He pretty much limps all the time but it's worse after a long day. My friend says it's all about building up the muscles around the knee and in the calf so as to make the knee stronger. But I was looking at week 2 of the program and the "explosive jumping cardio" (I think that's how they described it) just sounds way too rough for him. It's hard to know for sure without seeing the different variations of the exercises.

He really wants to give it a try though. Personally, I just can't see committing that much time every day to a workout routine (between traveling to and from work, dealing with kids and the household). That's why I was wondering about the 10 Minute Trainer for me. I don't need to lose any weight (well, maybe 5 lbs or so in the gut and thighs) but everything really needs to be toned up. Do you know anyone who's done this one?

The one with the jump cardio is has the guy with the prostethic! There are varations that are shown. He needs to take it easy and build up that muscle, try the dvd and when he has pain STOP, let his Dr. know what kind of workout he is planning and see what he/she says. I know TONS of people with serious back shoulder and leg injuries that SWEAR by P90x, I was turned on to it by a nurse with a knee injury, it was hard for her at first, but now she has built up so much endurance (2 years later) she ran Beach to Bay this year! She did a 4 mile leg!

During the whole workout, each dvd, you are encouraged to rest or stop if you are unable to continue. Trying can't hurt, just make sure your husband knows his limits, checks with his Dr., and stopps if he feels pain.

I actually have the P90X but I haven't used it yet... Another one of those "great ideas" that I have been procrastinating at...

Obviously, I heard it was great or else I wouldn't have bought it!

I started the p90x and i lost 5lbs in the first week, it's deffinently intense but i got bored with it, you do the same thing for 3 weeks straight and i was bored by week 2. I only did 2 1/2 weeks and it was over my birthday/ 4th of july/ vacation so i cheated on the diet. But i still lost 5lbs so if i was faithful it probably could have been alot more. I just found it hard to get my butt off the couch and go do something inside if i'm going to workout i need to be out of my house to get the motivation. If you have the dedication it's great, the yoga is HARD if you arent a noodle. and tony's pretty cute :-)

We do the P90X, well my kids do lol. It will kick your very ass unless you're already in pretty good shape. It really does show results in a short time though. The only part that is torture though is watching Tony's face covered in pancake make-up and eye liner. Just weird looking hahaha.

An update.... my husband started the P90X a little over a month ago and while I had my reservations on whether he actually could do it with his bad knee/leg, he has done really well! He's lost about 8 pounds or so but more importantly, he's definitely lost inches. He hasn't measured since starting but I can definitely see a difference. This program does kick butt though! There's no way I could do it. I've been doing the 10 Minute Trainer for about 4 weeks or so (usually about 4 times a week) and while I haven't seen any weight loss, I think I am at least getting stronger. Haven't measured anything again since starting... waiting a little longer so I won't be disappointed. I have to say though, all those people who are SO excited about exercising... Hello??? I absolutely hate every minute I'm doing it. Is that horrible?? I've never had to exercise before - always been quite small and petite - but the gut is creeping up on me big time so I knew I had to start doing something. Still don't like it though! Maybe I'll like it more once this gut is history!

OMG I have the 10 minute trainer and it's still in the box. I run/walk now that's it is summer here maybe I'll try it once winter comes. Good to see that people are getting results from this.

Anyone else try the 10 minutes workout? Does it really work?

I was talking to a lady on the WOWY message board (Beachbody - they have different sections for the different workouts) when I first got my 10 Minute Trainer because I was trying to figure out how to build a routine. I didn't want to do 3 a day and that's what is suggested on the calendar that comes with it. She shared with me her weight and measurements 60 days after beginning the workouts (although she had only actually exercised about 45 of those days) and I was really amazed! She had lost 11 inches total in that time. I've gotta say, that kinda spurred me into action. I think it's truly possible to lose the inches with this workout. It's so hard to believe the "models" who look so great but this lady truly has weight issues and her results were genuine. This might be the only reason I suffer through my 2 10 minute workouts each night. Maybe I'll share my results later.....

I have Power 90, and the 10 min. trainer....I just got Turbo Jam.

I used to use the Power 90 and it was wonderful...but they are on VHS tapes and my player is broke. I have the other 2 on DVD which I have to use the playstation to play them on.

I loved the Power 90...it works great. The 10 min. trainer...I tried the first one...and didn't go back to do it. I've been trying to use the turbo jam, which is fantastic!!!

I have a plantar fascitis, in both feet....so almost all my workouts are put on hold for now......I still can ride my bike.

I have about 50 lbs, I'd like to remove, so hopefully my feet get better soon.
I'm in a no win situation right now....I need to lose weight...but working out, is almost impossible.

I was thinking of trying the P90x (anyone want to sell one they are not using?) I like to hike but in this heat I have to sometimes do indoor excercises. I have a few DVDs that I switch off on but I was thinking of trying the P90x... Hmmm...
