Does this mean you can't use any of your old attachments with this? Is there no adapter with this? The little duster they give you is so tiny. I've always done so much of my dusting with my vacuum, and I definitely need some attachments. Do love the fact it's so quiet.

Good question, Nancy. I don't know if you can use your old attachments on the Dyson. I rarely used the ones that were on the Hoover so it didn't occur to me to try them.

Oh heck I have a million different attachments, and thought I could buy an adapter and it would work with them. Now I don't know which ones to buy. Did you buy the attachments you linked, and have you gotten them yet?

This vacuum does everything else, surely there's an adapter for the accessories. Now you've got me curious....I need to go google.

My attachments arrived on Tuesday but I haven't even opened the box yet. That's on my to-do list for this holiday weekend.

I googled for adapters for a little bit but I never found any for you, Nancy. Surely they make them?

I did when I was considering which attachments to order. But I didn't when trying to find an answer for Nancy - that would've made too much sense to go straight to the source. This is a big DUH moment for me.

I can see you guys have no faith in me, of course I checked with dyson because I found that adapter on many sites including theirs, so I called dysen and asked if I could use it with my other attachments. They said that the adapter only works with their attachments, "Some of their attachments need an adapter". I asked the salesman to check on this, because it didn't make sense to me, he said he checked and "No the adapter would not work on other attachments". So, I'm assuming some of their attachments go to any of their machines and you need this attachment to hook this up to the animal.

The kit you bought Bonny has what looks like an adapter in it, and I thought you could see for yourself if you can attach that to regular attachments. See picture to see what I mean. In the meantime, I bought this set Dyson Home Cleaning Kit : Target I can see you are no Suzy Homemaker, I would have ripped that box apart, and tried out the new attachments. Lol, I seriously can't wait for mine. I just love buying something that actually works like they say it will.

Huh. I never even noticed the kit I got came with an adapter. Normally I would've at least opened the box by now even I if didn't try everything out right away. Guess I'm getting lazy these days. Out of curiousity, I'm going to try this adapter and see if it fits any of the Hoover attachments.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to use it for, we have fans in every room and they do get dusty. Let me know about the adapter.

Nancy, I finally opened the box. The adapter did not work with the Hoover attachments. The way the adapter's made, it doesn't look to me like it would work with the brands I've owned before (Hoover, Bissell, Dirt Devil, etc.). But, I like the Dyson attachments soooooo much better than any I've had before so I'm ok with having to use theirs.

Have you tried the multi-angle brush yet? I really think that's one I should get. I was trying to clean the top of the fridge and I'm just not tall enough to do it easily with what I have - do you think the multi-angle would work well for this?

Okay, I guess the Dyson guy knew what he was talking about; I just don't have the faith in the phone people. I just ordered mine last Monday, so I don't have it yet. I'm hoping it works for things like that, I have a high shelf in the family room that gets so dusty, and I wouldn't care except if you're on the stair steps you can see it. The frig gets a once a year dusting whether it needs it or not! I want something that also does the intake air grates for the AC and heating system, my Hoover just wasn't powerful enough, but the brush was good, and I think this is powerful enough, but the brush that comes with it, is just too tiny. Really, this has gotten me on a whole new cleaning and decorating binge!

It's got me a cleaning binge, too! At least on the weekends... I'm really liking this new Dyson a lot.

After I read your post about the air intakes, I had to go try the "mattress tool" that came with my accessory kit and it worked perfectly. It's 7/ 3/4" long and slightly angled. I have high ceilings (the intakes are in the ceiling), and with that nice extension wand I was able to reach and clean them easily. Thanks for that idea!

Your fridge sounds like mine. I had a friend over a couple of weeks ago who's 6' in her bare feet (of course, she always wears heels). She very nicely told me I needed to clean a few different areas that are too high up for me to ever see. I need to have her over more often to do inspections for me.

Oh, I haven't tried the flexi-tool that came with my kit yet, but it's so cool! I'm trying to think of areas I can use it on.

Now I'm off to try out that new dusting tool.....
