Well, my Floormate quit on me yesterday. :( Third time I'd used it and it stopped working. I called Hoover and arranged to send it back, but they're making ME pay for return shipping. When I heard that, there was no way I was letting them send me a replacement....I'll just buy one locally and if it quits I'll return it and I won't have to worry about paying shipping again. :thumbdown

Anyway, I was trying to pack the unit back in the box but I can't get the handle to come off. Does anyone know how to remove it? There's no way it'll fit in the box with that handle still attached. :confused:

There are a few different screws in the front and behind. What about just buying the replacement locally and then returning the defective one with the new receipt? :rolleyes:

These things are like a new toy!! I've used my Haan every day, on something. Today I plan to steam the sofa, love seat and carpet in my hubby's "Man Cave!":)
It sounds like a lot, but it goes so quickly.
I'm enjoying house cleaning so much that it's scary.:rollingey

That's a good idea! I'll have to think about that. I'd talked myself into getting the one with all the attachments this next time, and it's a different model I think.

Nope. I turned it on to start working and the brushes weren't turning and it wouldn't pick up water. I unplugged it to look it over and never could get it to power back on again. :confused:

I don't know what I did but it's working great again now. I was tinkering around, trying to figure out how to get the handle off and thought what the heck, I'll plug it in and try it one more time and it works.

I'm wondering if I didn't have one of the water containers in securely or something. :confused: Since I still have a few more weeks before I have to return in, I'm going to keep it and see how it does. Fingers crossed! :)

It will not work if those tanks are not in properly. Another thing that will stop it from picking up water is a little screen thing that is in it....if it gets clogged, it will stop working.
Read your manual FAQs (troubleshooting) thoroughly!

It's funny you say that, Linda. I'm one of those OC people who reads everything. Except I was so excited when the Floormate finally arrived I could barely read the assembly instructions. :p It worked so well when I finally got it all put together that I never went back and read how to actually use it. :rolleyes: I really do think the problems was because one of the trays wasn't in securely - I'm so glad I decided to try it one more time! :) I promise, I'll read the instructions carefully before I use it again.

My new vacuum is scheduled to arrive on Thursday. Yay!! Anyone want to guess what I'll be doing Friday afternoon? :D

Oh, I did the same thing. I actually, when I had a problem, could not find the manual and had to find it online. DUH
I looked for one the other day for you...and the Hoover site was down for maintenance and then I totally forgot about it. I had tried to call you...missed you and then was off doing Heaven only knows what. I am glad you found the problem!
I am doing my floors today. I don't love cleaning, but have to say I don't dread the floors like I used to thanks to my buddy! :)

So I showed hubby a video on youtube (HSN or QVC or something similar) and before the end of it, he said to order one lol woohoo. :p

I am torn though. I see the refurbs on Amazon (MUCH cheaper than buying new) but there are a few bad reviews on them.. should I take my chances with one of those? Or just go and buy new? I'm going to check on CraigsList as well.

I don't know about the refurbs either. :confused: I've purchased a microwave/convection oven from the Sears outlet that was a refurb and never had any problems and it came with a 1 yr warranty. Not sure about Amazon but that is a DEAL!
