| I wish I could sew. I took Home Ec in high school (it was either that or Shop back then), but I had zero interest in sewing at the time. Now I wish I had paid more attention to that part of the class.

| Very cute jumpsuit! I'm dissapointed to hear about home economics program being eliminated. Home ec. is such a great oppertunity to uncover a skill people don't know they have. I love to sew and find it relaxing but I'm not very good with making clothing, I've done a lot of drapes and valances which I was proud to hang in my home. The clothes I made for the furbutts.......not to good. I just admire all the talent I see on YT, it inspires me to keep trying. Good luck with your jumpsuit and I hope to see a model photo of it!

| Patti...I love that pattern and hope that some day soon, you can find the time to sit down and sew it. And...when you do...we want pictures of you modeling it! I hope your neck is feeling better!

| I like the jumpsuit too, but you are right, the leg bands... I would either take them out completely or do a bit of a tighter leg, with a leg band that is fitted to the leg and very long, turn it into a cuff, you know? I do sew, i mostly do costumes, and i am usually too busy to sew for myself, but i do sew more for humans than for furbutts. I went to design school. My dad at first was totally against it, but recently he told me he was glad that my fashion design degree went towards something. (That's his idea of a complement LOL) I love vintage style stuff, so I mostly shop in thrift shops, IF I shop at all. I can't stand the mall. Overpriced stuff and everyone knows where you got it. I have a whole folder of designs I want to make, but I'm too busy making stuff for other people that I can never do MY stuff! LOL anyway, here's two costumes I make. From the Sweeney Todd movie, Sweeney and Mrs Lovett. Oh I love corsets too, I make those as well. I love anything late Victorian.

They look really, really great! You are very talented. ![]() My youngest daughter buys almost all of her stuff in vintage stores or just thrift stores. She puts stuff together that would look just plain silly on me but somehow it looks great on her. When we had her engagement party she showed up in a little hat with a veil and a vintage dress and managed to look adorable. I have NEVER been able to wear a hat. I look dumb in hats - wish I could. On Memorial Day she had on sailor shorts with a little top and high heeled shoes with an ankle straps and her hair was braided and wrapped around her head. She would love your victorian corsets.

| Hi Patti, You are right - the pant legs need a little help. ![]() I still sew for myself and for Tink too. Sometimes I have Connie make her a pretty little dress and sometimes I ask Sissy. They both do beautiful work. I used to make my husband's suits, but it got to be too expensive - it was cheaper to buy them ready made and do the alterations myself. I tried to teach my daughter to sew the way my mother did for me, but she wasn't interested. Now that she is on her own, she wants to learn how to hem and alter things. So, we'll start on that this summer. It is sad that one more thing isn't taught anymore. I guess it's just easier to buy something instead of investing your time in it. I know I do that sometimes too - instead of making an outfit - especially if time is short. |

Master craftspeople never have time for themselves. I have a folder of pictures -- not my own designs like you -- of things that should I ever have the means, I will have someone tailor make for me. | |

| I sewed clown costumes for my skinkids when they were little and if you looked real close they had little railroad tracks all over them from where I ripped out many many seams and started over... thank god they were clown costumes, 'cuz the absurdity of it was acceptable. My mom had her mother's ancient treadle black singer a late 1800s or early 1900s model. She sewed MOST everything on it, but she complained to my father that she could not make anything fancy, like a square dancing dress, only shirts and pants, etc.. (they belonged to a club and she wanted a dress with the ruffles, lace rick rick, bells and whistles), my father, the engineer who also taught me how to knit and crotchet, bought a pattern and on that old machine made her the most beautiful red and white square dancing dress complete with layers of ruffles and poufy sleeves, gathered waist, underskirt that made it pouf out, sweetheart neckline, rickrack everywhere, god it was fancy and gorgeous and gaudy. Minnie Pearl and Loretta Lynn look out. Fit her like a glove, she shut up and when she died at 84 she still had not gotten a new sewing machine.
