I'm not sure Michael really had any idea how the real world lived. He was taken to strip joints at a very early age, and while this didn't bother his 12-year-old brothers it had a major impact on an innocent 5 year old. He wasn't ready for the seamier side of life, and seemed to spend most of his adult years protecting himself from it. He really believed strongly in the innocence of children, and didn't think any adult had the right to take that innocence away. Unfortunately, the very rich are often surrounded by "yes" men, who don't really help them see the world in a realistic light. I also believe that some extremely creative people have problems dealing with "reality", even if they aren't rich. We all raised Michael, and we did a lousy job.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | From what I've read, this is my understanding; he could not tolerate seeing any of his father's facial characteristics in himself. I think there has been some talk of him suffering from "body dysmorphic disorder", and this is when someone is excessively concerned by a perceived defect in their physical features. He did not see himself as others saw him. I'm really sorry he wasn't encouraged to go into therapy, and I'm sure many plastic surgeons turned him down, but if you have enough money, you can find someone who will make you look like a freak. Money doesn't protect you from yourself.

I really *do* believe he had Vitilgo which made him turn white (I also believe it was proved in his autopsy) and he also had Lupus. He stated multiple times he had to use make-up to blend it all together, because he had splotches all over... and if you look at some photos from right after Thriller, and into the Bad album, you can definitely see it. They tried to hide it for a long time. Unfortunately, when you are already an insecure person and get constantly judged from the world, and your own father... that's not a great combination. The thing I loved about MJ the most... he would do sooo many things that often went under the radar, but he did it purposely. He did things from the good of his heart... not simply for publicity. This one story touched me:

| Thank you Brister...I'm forever with MJ, knew him since I was a kid, loved him all my life. I still couldn't accept the fact that he's no longer here..

| That's exactly how I feel! I cannot wait to go home and watch these videos. I never had a doubt in my mind that he was innocent of those molestation charges. I wish he were not so odd as to turn a lot of attention on himself. I will forever miss him though and his music. I believe he had a heart of gold.

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | Thank you Britster! I have had such a hard time with the loss of Michael Jackson. One would think I "knew" him from my grieving. So strange yes, but true. The pain I feel is real. I never believed him to be a child molester. I believe he was misunderstood and his childhood was all he was trying to capture. His innocence as an adult could easily have been, and was misunderstood and thrown out of proportion by the media. Ultimately I believe he suffered such emotional pain that he is in a better place now. God bless Michael.

| Aww poor sweet Michael! He was so missunderstood! "childhood" by Michael just breaks my heart to listen to! Joe Jackson will get his comeupance one day! What goes around comes around! I've always felt great admirration for Katherine Jackson, she's just a wonderful, amazing and kind lady, and Michael's death must have affected her so much! I love Michael so much, I just can't describe! If I could spend all day everyday watching him on youtube, I would! If more people took the time to learn what Michael was really all about, and took a look at themselves, and made that change, instead of listening to the cr*p the media comes out with, the world would be a better place!!! |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Hm. I thought I commented on this yesterday but my post isn't here! anyway. I watched the whole documentary and it REALLY opened my eyes. While I've always liked his younger music, I never grew up on the amazing talent of Michael Jackson. My entire life he has been portrayed as the creeper who molested young kids, so that's always what I've known him as. I knew he was incredibly talented (I truly LOVED his music) but I didn't know anything about him as a person other than that he was apparently a child molestor. I didn't mourn him at all when he died. I actually thought, "Good. Now the world is safer." Well...I am now ashamed at how blindly I accepted that. My mind has been completely changed. I feel horrible and wish that I had seen this before he passed away so I had had a chance to really see him for the person he is. I can't imagine how terrible the last years of his life must have been...seeing all the things he tried to do to help kids blow up in his face. Thank you so much for sharing. I have truly been educated.
