I'm sorry - I couldn't find one for the standing ovation that this post deserves!!! |

Thank you Ann!!! :) The tone of a post can be interpreted 20 different ways, just the way a sentence can be interpreted many many ways. Unless you hear and see the facial expressions, and tonality of someones voice, you will never know for sure what the exact tone is meant to be in the written (typed) word. :) |
Sooooo true, if one looks for rudeness and anger that is what they will find. |
Someone posted above: "I can count on seeing rudeness somewhere every time I log in." Um...well...yeah, but one can also see: Support Kindness Education Joy Happiness Information sharing Friendship Compassion Love Advocacy Community Passion WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON, HMMM? :)
I completely agree that yes we do see those things. Which is what keeps me coming back to read and learn. :D BUT as I choose NOT to focus on the other is the reason why I choose NOT to participate much either. To do so would only serve to feed that wolf in me. ;) It does bother me though for the people who have come for answers and feel run off. I often wonder if a dog ended up in a shelter or worse because the OP wasn't able to take in advice because it wasn't delivered in a friendly manner. A spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down in the most delightful way! ;) |
When I first came to YT I was not treated so well by a few. I stood my ground about what I was saying and I stayed. We all make choices in life. I do not allow others to dictate who I talk to and where I go. And, just because someone says something, it does not make it so. If someone called me a pine tree, would I buy it? Of course not! So why buy anything else? I am sorry, but I am not going to buy into that thing that people are being run off of YT right and left. If they leave it is because they wanted to. And, honestly, some are only here to stir the pot anyway....and there are plenty of them and they have a great audience. There are some people on YT who think everyone has to play nice with people who are harming animals...be careful what you say and how you say it. Not something I can quite grasp. The animals don't have voices...WE are their voices and to pat someone on the back and play footsie with them while they harm one, then we are abusers as well imo. Whether it be online or in real life, people voice opinions. Kids go to school and get picked on. There are those who run and say "oh, you poor darling" and feed right into that child's insecurities. Then, there are those who say, "why do you believe what another person says about you when you know it is not true?". Kids will continue to be victims if we tell them that they are victims. Sometimes people are harsh on YT, but does that mean people have to leave? Again, they leave because they choose to do so. There is a lot of valuable information on YT. If you don't like a certain thread, leaving is only cutting your nose off to spite your face. There is an ignore feature on YT and I have used it more than once when I just didn't want to see what certain people were saying. I have some on ignore right now and have for some time. They are here and so am I. I did not leave nor did they when we disagreed. Again...simply my opinion. |
The only thing I take issue with is your comment on rescuing dogs just to kill them. I know that although they do try to save most of the dogs, euthanizing does happen occasionally. The conditions that some of those dogs are in and the lives they have led. Euthanizing is the kindest thing, at least they are not suffering. There are worse things than death. We would ll love to resuce all of the pet store puppies and puppy mill puppies, but in doing so, we are just making it so they can breed more, if there were no market for them, the breeding would stop. It is a shame that we do not have laws against mills, but we don't, so all we can do is to encourage people not to buy from them. USDA breeders are large commercial facilities, that run with the bare minimum of compliance to the codes. Codes that were developed for livestock, not domesticated pets. Those breeders look at their breeding stock as livestock, the get fed. That is it. Minimal care to keep them alive, food and water, nothing more and when they are too old or too sick to breed, they are killed, not euthanzed, KILLED. |

All of this is so true. Easy for people to say things...if they have not lived it, they have no clue what they are talking about. |
This forum , as well as the internet in general, is just an extention of the people behind the screens. Some people have passive/quiet attitudes, some more aggressive/authoratative , and some can even be down right mean . But you can't change the way people will respond. It would be nice if everyone's true tone ( both good and bad ) came across clearly to us but since that isn't the case we have to try and read the intentions with pure instinct , which can be swayed by our own feelings , and since were only human we sometimes do feel hurt by someones response even if it isn't that persons true intention. . I hope most people wont be scared away by members new and old voicing opinions , because after all they are just opinions :) |
Yorkie2luv Thankyou for speaking your mind, I agree with a lot of what you posted. Its a big reason why I have been MIA from this forum for the last year. I got so tired of the negative posting or answers to questions I didn't even ask and never getting answers to the original question. I do agree though that sometimes, as much as you want to reply to someone's nasty thread its better to let it go and find a good thread=). Someone always has something to say about something. Hope you have a great year. |

Although I am a 500 Club Memeber, I still think of myself as a 'newbie' when it comes to the world of Yorkies. There are sooooo many things I have learned because fellow members added that tid bit of info to a post. Funny thing is, I may not have ever thought to ask either.:p I am thankful for those who 'beat the same drum'. To me, that is what makes this such an educating site. I have been called judgmental and naive. Did it upset me...oh yea!:( I lost sleep over it. I have 'thin skin' in general. (anyone have advice for thickening it up...pm me. LOL) My point is, I could've left YT and only had bad feelings toward this site. However, my strong desire to educate myself about the breed kept me here. It didn't hurt that I was also willing to work things out with members who I had had diagreements with either. :D ~Amanda |
As long as the controversy doesn't become really mean and insulting, I have to say that it is one of things I like about YT. If we all thought alike it would be a pretty boring world. Plus, I've learned a lot from all the differing opinions on here. :) |

There are some people who will deliberately take and twist everything a person says. So I have even gotten to the point where sometimes I put disclaimers on my posts. stating that "I did not mean this or that, I said what I meant and meant what I said. Do not twist my words,, add to them or take from them." Some people do get downright mean occasionally, usually when they get backed into a corner and have nothing more to say. So when someone gets mean, you can figure you have won the debate, cause they have run out of things to say so they start to attack you personally. :D \JMO |
I understand and respect and appreciate your "rant". You absolutely have "said" things that people are thinking. As a new member doing a ton of research I have to agree with #2 in your statement. Even if age was not mentioned, it seems to be the first question asked...relative to the original question or not. So I say "BRAVO" to you. |
Quote:
People ask age because it IS important! And, people do need to keep hearing that 8 weeks is too young for a puppy to be sold, just like unfortunately they have to keep hearing about puppy mills and back yard breeders. Since they are still buying from these places, either they have not seen it and need to or they are living in la la land and need to hear it again anyway. And, other people who are reading these posts need to hear it as well.....even if only 1 person out of 25 takes it to heart it is worth it! People generally DO help the person with the sick puppy or the puppy with other issues; but why do you think saying the puppy was sold too young is wrong? We are here to educate! |
