I totally understand were you are comming from... But what we all have to remember is that alot of people come here for education. This means there are people that will read these theads that are thinking of buying dogs, breeding dogs, finding breeders etc, If we can infuse these threads with as much good, ethical, information as possible then more people will be educated and prepared.

I am less likely to buy from a pet store if I have read where those puppies come from, I am less likely to go to a comercial breeder(usda) if I know how those dogs live. Or to bread my dog for money, the experince, or for fun if I know the risks and the consiquences involved. I love it when someone interjects to teach. Sometimes it gets a little heated but like others said, you can just not post in the heated ones and eventually they will go away.

As animal lovers and breed enthusiasts it would be irresponsible IMO to not say something when someone is making decisions that are less than ideal for our breed. After all that is why we are all here, because we love our yorkies.

I think we're in agreement that it is often the tone used that is the problem. I admit to being guilty when a topic hits a touchy area with me. That's why I know it's best for me to avoid those situations as best I can. However, I am so very grateful to those that have the courage to stand and defend thier beliefs and values, rather than fearing that someone else might get upset.

Given that you are a very calm and understanding person, I hope you can see how maybe your own post can be conceived as insulting itself. I understand this is your opinion and do not fault you for expressing it...it all just seems to be a little hypocritical. (To be perfectly honest, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either way, I don't agree with lots of opinions here, but I think people still have a right to voice them.)

I commented on how it can be conceived in response to someone earlier. So yes, I see how it can come off as hypocritical. I wouldn't expect you to lose sleep and I didn't say not to voice them.

No worries, totally understand and respect your thoughts.

No, I understand. Just making the point that it's not worth it for anyone to get upset because someone has a different opinion....generally speaking. :)

i am new here and joined because i'm a research geek and found this to be the best place to learn how to parent my yorkie. indeed, i have gathered immeasurable and truly helpful information from yt.

that said, i see no judgement or any desire to cause a "tif" or even be controversial in anything you wrote. i did not see you calling any individual out, mention any members' name in a derogatory fashion, or even call attention to the specific threads you find troubling (didn't need to, either). i researched your previous posts (i'm so going to try your shampoo and conditioner suggestion on lulu, btw!) and it's obvious to me at least that you've been a positive voice here.

i understand that the points you were making were not a result of you yourself having a negative experience here and am unsure why anyone would find your words contradictory. i find them to be empathetic. i get that you have observed what i will call the unkind treatment of others (as have i) and were posting on their behalf, and with only the best of intentions towards yt. you did not have to go to that trouble and it took guts to do it.

hopefully, people will take the time to actually consider what you've written before they reply. your post deserves it...in my humble, newbie opinion. :)

Thank you so very much!!!!! I'm glad to have a "newbie" give their perspective and truly appreciate it.

As for the shampoo and conditioner, it works miracles and makes life easier I tell ya'. It works so well because the Ph balance in ethnic hair care products are lower thus working well with the yorkie hair. Oh and try HappyTails All Natural Dog Shampoo & Spa Products | Itchy Dry Dog Skin, Arthritis Remedies | Pet Odor Removal | Wholesale Dog Supplies - LOVE THEM!

Thank you again and welcome to YT!

"quote" Sometimes it is those same naive parents who transition into what I call the Ultimate YT-er. Now this "Ultimate" title doesn't just fit here as I'm a member of a community service sorority and many other professional organizations and it is the same everywhere.

There are a few Ultimate YT-ers (I don't know names as I don't gossip, stalk or follow folks like that) but I do see them often, that are on here that make it their duty to constantly and consistently down talk, impose ideals on posts people make that have NOTHING to do with what was asked.

This statement in your post would could be construed as "down talk"
to call people or to perceive people as "Naive" is not really a good way to not except responses like you are receiving... and if you see all these post all the time, then you must find them interesting to keep reading, the same people, all the time to know who you consider the "Ultimate YT-ers" if you do not stalk or gossip, then how may I ask do you constantly see their post????

myteddybear 01-06-2010 12:33 PM

Honestly I am glad this was posted. I have been here for quite a while and love to come here and read and learn. I don't however get too friendly with people because of exactly what this post is about. I do know that as well as coming to look up whatever information I have come for that I can count on seeing rudeness somewhere every time I log in.

Opinions can certainly be given with respect. Being rude about something you are passionate about will just make people shut out your opinions and suddenly you have done nothing to support your passion and quite possibly could have even pushed the poster in the opposite direction endagering the animal in question.

Hello to you too! LOL

I will answer your question while keeping the positive tone of this post.

I am able to see these posts because I'm reading them in general as the title does NOT reflect that there will be answers such as the one you posted.

In other words it can say: Help sick yorkie diarrhea - then the response is as I stated.

This is how I'm able to read all these things if I'm not following it. Hope that clarifies things for you.

:)

I do not think what I posted was ugly, mean, or abusive... I quoted you and ask a question.. I think the word "Naive" was uncalled for..

I don't totally agree with your last statement and you are missing the true point of the post, however I respect your opinion.

I know to many that may seem PC but it is the truth. It's interesting how those getting on the end of the discussion now are more having the tone change.

I will not be at the computer for awhile and won't be able to respond to everything as I have been. I do hope this post stays upbeat and gentle.

I ask those that respond after this to please keep it as such. There is no need for typing to be abrupt or rude. It hasn't been thus far and this conversation has been going on for over an 1 hour now.

There will be some that don't read the whole thing and others that may need to re-read to get a feel for what has occurred and those that are stating the same things others have stated that I responded to - please read the previous posts and many of your "contradictory" statements will be addressed as Wylie's Mom - Moderator already stated along with others to me and I did my best to clarify.

So Happy Days!!!

Understood - yet, 2 things you did in "Web Posting" Red, and bold. All you were missing were caps. This is why I responded to you as I did.

I wasn't calling people Naive in the way in which you took it. Yet, I still respect your perspective and understand why you quoted what you did.

No worries.

A lot of people say that everyone is entitled to thier opinion, of course they are, I am just saying that they can certainly be given in a respectful manner and that if they aren't then people are scared away and the one to suffer will be the animal that would have benefitted form the information.

No turning of tone here, I think your points were well made and I totally respect the way you did it with a smile. :)

I'm writing to correct the first part of my statement for this as I was just confused on what I just read with another post. So I apologize and appreciate the follow up.

The 2nd part of my response wasn't intended for this poster it was just so I wouldn't have to write another one to respond to the late comers. That is all.

Just read this quick, PLEASE
:

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that was going on inside himself.

He said, "My boy, the fight is between two wolves." That certainly got the boy's attention.

"One is evil," the old man continued. "Anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego."

"What of the other, grandfather?" the boy asked.

"The other is good," he said. "Joy, Peace, Love, Hope, Serenity, Humility, Kindness, Benevolence, Empathy, Generosity, Truth, Compassion and Faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Do we all have such wolves fighting inside us, grandfather?"

"Yes," the wise old man said.

"Then, which wolf wins the fight?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I forgot to thank YT member "Doodlebug" for recently reminding me of this Cherokee tale. It has always been one of my favorites, I just *love* it! It hits me just right. Anyway, Doodlebug sent it to me in December...and I really needed to hear it. :)
