this is a wonderful place. there are some improvements that could be beneficial. in no way does the second sentence nullify the first. the op stated clearly, in the title even, that she knew it was the end. she wasn't seeking anything at all but comfort. the third degree hit immediately. days later the questions in regard to her parenting, her financial situation, her general lifestyle, were still being posted in spite of the fact that it was clear she'd been run out of here. indeed, people were angry she hadn't bothered to get back here and answer their questions. i find that beyond disturbing. many of us would do the same. this is because we are fortunate to live in areas where vets are available 24/7, because we have transportation, because we have not lost employment that would make it financially impossible, because our skin kids are perfectly healthy, because we are perfectly healthy, because we have family to help...the list goes on and on. we live in a world where people are going without vital medications for themselves due to the economy, dying as a result at times. point being, you are blessed with a feeling of security that many do not have. this does not mean they love their yorkies any less. nor does it mean that the pain of losing one hurts any less. an animal lover need not be an animal lover to the exclusion of showing loving kindness to that animal's hurting human parent. the woman i mentioned was shamed here, and those were the feelings her little one likely picked up on at the very end. that was not her fault. that was the fault of the people who treated her wrongly and also, the people like me who followed it from beginning to end but didn't have the guts to speak up. i for one am ashamed of that and will make sure it doesn't happen again. |

Before I even BEGIN to respond to your post, I am asking you to please pm the admin and ask him to remove the quotes attibuted to me that "I DID NOT SAY!". Please, when quoting me, do not add to it. Thank you. After that is fixed, I will respond to you. |
to be clear...in regard to my last post, the purple remarks are my responses to ladyjane. i felt that was obvious given the quotation marks, but if i made a technical error and some were confused by it....my apologies. i have learned a lot from the responses in this thread and even from the fact that it has now been deemed off-topic. cheers. |
oh wait...now it looks like the complaint is about the last portion of my post which never even mentioned another member. quotation marks are used not only to reference a direct quote, but also when a writer is referencing a "hypothetical" one....such as i just did here. it is standard writing practice. |

To say, If I had or If it was me etc... is simply not a fair statement. It isn't you and even though you had a situation with a dying dog recently it does not mean that your situation was anything like hers. You don't know her situation, you weren't there, you did not walk in her shoes. You do not know what you would have done in her shoes as you do not know what the entire situation entailed and to say that you would have done such and such is simply uncalled for and won't help the situation. I surely don't see where it is educating. There are so many variables when dealing with people online who you do not know. You do not know thier family situation, thier mental status, where they are in life or the things that may have changed and gone on in thier lives to bring them where they are right now. Again, just how I see it. :) |

During the exact same time frame this thread was moved, I also moved about 8 threads to Health & Diet, 2 threads to Grooming, about 3 threads to Training, edited 1 thread in Video, and moved THIS thread here. And that is part of what I have to do here at YT. If there is something you would like to say about the fact that it was moved here, you can feel free to say it. I would appreciate it if you did not insinuate something about the reason it may have been moved here - as that is what it appears you may be doing above. If you would like a description of what each Section is for, those are listed on the main forum page. The description for the General section is "For General Talk About Yorkies" -- which should help explain why I moved this discussion, as well as why I spend time moving other threads. Thanks. :) |

The reason I quoted your last post is because I feel like you're starting to get condescending. Please don't come on here telling us about standard writing practices when you can't even capitalize the first word in your sentences. Bottom line is - this is a huge forum. No one is going to agree with everyone all the time. If you don't like what you're reading, hit the ignore button, contact admin, skip over that post or just move on to another thread. Yes, some comments may seem to be harsh but that's life - on or off this forum. You have to remember how long some of these members have been here and how many questions they have answered. Sometimes it just happens. I, for one, am thankful for finding YT. This forum has some of the most caring and knowledgable people I know. I can't even begin to say how much I've learned here. I hope you'll feel that way one day. |
Oh - sorry Ann. I must have been writing the same time you were. :) |

As for your going on about people being wrong about stating facts to educate, I can only say that education often falls on deaf ears; but that does not mean we should not speak up for the tiny little animals who have no voices. Often, when people are defensive, there is a reason for it. They know something is wrong but don't care to be educated OR change their behaviors. |

No the complaint was about the quotes attributed to me that were not made by me. They have been fixed. Since you are a writer, I am sure you understand that when a quote is highlighted and attributed to someone, it cannot be added to. |
Wow, thirteen pages......It looks like this thread has run it's course and is no longer serving any useful purpose.....Ann where are you???......:( |

I stand by what I said. You don't hold a dying animal and refuse to care for it. Let me ask this.....do you think that person, if she had a medical problem and was dying, would get on an online forum and say she was dying? Seriously. I will bet she would find help for herself..or at least try. As for the remark I made about "if it were me" , let me expound on it a bit and say that "if it were a true animal lover with compassion". Don't even try to tell me that letting an animal suffer and die while you are sitting on a computer typing is love for animals. Oh..you can try to tell me....but I am not buying it. Yep...your opinion...and mine. Two different view points on responsible pet care. |

I also agree with others...I think it's time to say, point (well;)) taken & now let's just raise out glasses to another thread that we should say adieu to...Happy New Year!:2party: |

Here's what I did say...I don't know the situation, I am not in her shoes and therefor I will not judge her. For all I know she was alone with her dog and she was scared and needed someone to talk to to get her through it. Who knows, I don't. :) |

I gave a hypothetical that yes, was created because of something the OP said.....but it was not based on a specific thread. Post the thread. Oh...n/m...I am finished with this one anyway. It is not going anywhere. |

*POOF* I am gone. :) |
I agree, it's not going anywhere. No point in posting the thread because it isn't about her in the first place, I am just trying to get the point accross that passing judgement on posters who's shoes you have not walked in is pointless. It doesn't help the animal and only serves to hurt. We all wanted her to come back (again, not about her, she is just the example here.) and update on her other animal's health but she never did and probably because of all the negativity that was posted on the thread. Now we will never know if they were ok. I apologize to anyone I may have offended by posting my opinion, it isn't something I usually do. But as you all have said before, it is something I am passionate about. The negativity does not help the animals involed. I was just hoping to convey that but I see now it is pointless. Ok, back to my corner ;) |
:2popkorn: and :martini: anyone? :p |
1. if anyone has found any posting by me to be insulting, i apologize. i have never intended to offend anyone. i stated the facts about the quotations just as someone here might state a fact about a yorkie. i was not judging and do not see that in my post. 2. i stated i have learned a lot on this thread, and also by the fact that it was moved to off-topic. it seems that some assume this to be a negative. it wasn't and isn't. 3. i do not capitalize by choice. e.e. cummings didn't either. 4. i can't recall all of the other remarks sent in my direction and honestly, am disheartened by this last bit of activity. 5. i am more convinced than ever that the woman i spoke of earlier deserves an apology because at this point, i feel sufficiently beaten down and i neither started this thread nor argued with anyone. further, i have a pretty thick skin. 6. i'm going to bed, and will think and pray as to whether or not this is a thread i need to revisit again, or even a forum i need to be part of. i believe in building, not tearing down. i believe kindness is always the best route to take. i believe no one knows so much they can't stand to learn more. these are the ideas i have shared here and ones i do my best to practice in life. the notion that such beliefs have garnered so much defensiveness and resentment saddens me and, to be honest, makes me long for the lurking days. goodnight. |
Just for the record...I don't want anyone to think my lil' Pot Stirring pic was directed at anyone who's posted within this thread...I love you all and appreciate everything that has been said...even tho' it seems to be time for some dessert :cake:, beverages :2party: & one big kum-by-ya moment!:ghug: |
 :ghug: |

Well, glad to see this thread is ending w/ laughs, desserts, raised glasses, and good cheer, and even a KUM BAY YA! Thanks all for participating in a very enlightening discussion! :) { and to once more clear up the ongoing confusion, this discussion DOES BELONG IN THE OFF TOPIC SECTION - if further clarification is needed about that, feel free to PM me :) } |
