| Who has a yorkie-poo,or other yorkie mixed dog? I have read alot about mixed dogs on here. Alot from what I have read, alot of you do not agree/like the mixed yorkie breeds,or label them as mutts and whatever else. What is your opinion on them? What do you like/dislike about the mixed yorkies? I have 2 yorkie-poo's and want to know that I am not alone, with having a mixed bred yorkie. I get saddened by some posts that I have saw on mixed bred yorkies.

| I feel the same as you unfortunately. Some comments that I've read sound really snobby, although I don't know if that is how the poster intended it to be. I don't know why there is that kind of prejudice really. Max is a yorkipoo. From what I've read, mixed breeds tend to have less congenital problems. I've also read that certain breeds were bred to give people with allergies more options in owning a dog. I adopted Max from a rescue and I don't care if he's not AKC registered or can't enter a dog show or whatever else....He has a special place in my heart and I love him to pieces. Recently there was another post on here and I saw a few other mixed yorkie breed owners responding..I was so thrilled to see that I wasn't the only one. I also joined the group "mix it up".

| I think what bothers me about it is breeders who breed mixed breed dogs and call them "designer" dogs. The problem with that is you don't really know what you are getting, in terms of how the dog will end up looking when it is fully grown. But for me, as far as cuteness, I love them. Anyway, I think a dog such as a yorkie-poo is a mixed breed dog, and a mutt is a dog of unknown breeds.

| Few years back I went to a breeders house and he had yorki-poos and yorki-shihtzus for sale. Luckily he was good enough to keep the pups til 10-12weeks which is when I picked mine up. The thing that gets me is that YES They are cute adorable pups who deserve just as much love as a purebred dog. It's the price of them that is ridiculous. I fell for it and paid 450 for a MIXED PUP! If you think about it, it's a mixed dog. Any two dogs that are put together will make mixed babies, but if your charging hundreds for them where is the best interest of the dog? It's the breeders charging 500+ for a MIXED DOG without papers. I dont think people bash them to bash them I think people are ticked at the others who breed them just to make money off of them. I see purebreds cheaper them mixes sometimes . I think its just OUT OF THIS WORLD! My Lola had no papers and had been rehomed 3 times. Some said she is a yorkie and some said a yorkipoo because she doesn't meet the standard. Thats fine with me whatever she is I love her and she will always have a home here. I didn't pay a huge amount for her and think it is reasonable to pay the amount to cover shots and vet visits. I think a mixed dog shouldnt be more then 200 max. |

| I dont think anyone has a problem with someone owning a mixed breed. However most dog lovers are going to have the opinion you should adopt a mix breed from a shelter rather than buying into the designer dog craze.

| Our Jax is a Yorkie-poo and we love him just as much as we would a purebred Yorkie or any other dog for that matter. We refer to him as a limited edition, not a mutt

| You are certainly not alone, having a yorkie mix. There are lots of them on here. I have 3 Morkies (Maltese/Yorkie mix), and a pure bred AKC Yorkie, oh and a Schnauzer too. Love them all to pieces! Here are my Morkie girls:

| I have a pure Yorkie, a rescue and a Yorkiepoo. I absolutely ADORE all three. Can anyone suggest a good shampoo for the Poo, she is 4 months old and has unruly cottony hair. I brush her twice a day and she is still wild looking. Any hints?

| I think the thing you are mistaken for snobbery is that most knowledgable breeders are upset by the fact that when there are thousands of mixed breed dogs in shelters that people are deliberately adding to the problem by breeding more mixed breeds and calling them "designer dogs". By buying these dogs people are encouraging this type of thing. It makes me furious. It's the same thing when people pay huge prices for pet store puppies that are from puppy mills. Sorry for the rant but if you spend any time volanteering at a shelter you could see how sad this is |
