I think the pedophile factor bugs me more then anything..the way they do up these little children and parade them around in some of those skimpy outfits, that bothers me quite a bit.

| My daughter now 29 participated in her first pageant when she was five. We had a great time and she enjoyed every moment of it. She actually won, yes Little Miss Iowa Star. Amie advanced to Nationals in Florida again an awesome time. Amie participated in pageants until she was almost 12. At that time she she wanted to focus on softball.........so we did! Again we had good times, I never forced her. If you have small children you will know it is not hardly possible to force them on stage. But that is just my side of it. Just wanted to let you know there are decent moms, dads, and contestants that are not bad. My daughter is 29 and a functioning mother of three.

I agree with it only if the child CHOOSES to do it for themselves but most of them, the mom or dad is pushing them to do it and that's horrible. I think it's sick...the girls are adorable but it's seriously disturbing. Like i dont mind the natural ones..where they dont have makeup and look real but the ones that look like fake dolls, thats just a little OD. Some of those girls will have serious insecurity issues growing up

I've only seen previews and wouldn't spend a minute watching it. I feel it takes these girls childhoods completely away and everything is done for the stagemoms. From what I've seen - they're obsessed and that is just not healthy for a child

| Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I agree too. My friend laura did pageants when she was younger, but the ones that she did were like...only one piece bathing suits for kids under 14 and the very basics of makeup. What's the point of doing a beauty pageant if none of it is real beauty?

Your daughter I'm sure back then did have the extreme things done to her appearance back then as these girls are having done today. I grew up with two sister who were not in pageants but who's mom was very superficial. Her mom was one who always believed you had to be bleached blond and super tanned to be beautiful. She dyed her daughters hair bleach blond from the time they were infants, gave them perms at 2 years old...... My friend was very, very naturally pretty and did not need any make-up or anything at all. Now when I see her in her mid 30's she has changed her beautiful natural look to someone who has to tan everyday to the darkest she can be, has huge breast implants way to big for her frame. Is anorexic and even when her make-up looks like Tammy Faye's, she still has to put on more every 30 mins. It's very sad. When we went out the odd time in our 20's out to a nightclub she would tell men that she was stripper instead of the respectful successful job she realy did. ![]() I think that telling little girls they need to do all those changes to their appearance to be beautiful can be very dangerous.
