Plantar Fasciitis Relief

I have Plantar Fasciitis, there are a couple of things you can do before bed and in the morning, my dr suggested standing on the the edge of a stair putting just the toes and balls of you feet on the step ( like your walking up the stairs) drop your heels down, this streches out your foot, I do it about 10 times before bed.. another thing he told me to do is use an old tube sock or longer sock hold both ends with your hands , loop your foot again under your toes and strech your foot towards you pull hard toes towards you repeat this over and over again with both feet... the more you strech it out the better it will feel , also taking x strength tylenol will help before bed.. my dr also suggested New Balance sneakers, no flip flops and wear extra thick socks... give it a try.

Thanks for the replies....I guess it sounds like I better get some insoles for my shoes..hopefully if I follow the suggestions, I can avoid going to the dr. again. Since all he said was to loose weight and stay off my feet as much as possible. Kinda hard to loose weight when you can't walk or do my workouts....

I had it for about 3 wks in my left foot. What helped was lots and lots of stretching (quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves) and of course I have sport orthotics (because I usually wear tennis shoes).

This is the best calf stretch, it really made a difference.

I used to have this problem a few years ago. I went to the podiatrist and he told me to do the exercises, which i did and didn't work.
I also got orthotics and I'm still wearing them.
Went back after a 2 months, he had gave me cortizone shots, only 3 'cause if they give you more is not good. btw, they hurt like you have no idea, but i was willing to go thru the pain. Didn't work!
He sent me to physical therapy for a few months, didn't work!
Finally, I had to have surgery which the doctor was trying to avoid, but sometimes depending on how bad he rpoblem is you have no option. I've had them since i was a kid, but got worse when i was in my early 20's.
My feet are so grateful i had the surgery, because they don't hurt anymore!
There is something more sophisticated now. They developed it after my surgery, but now there is this laser procedure that it's supposed ot help you heal faster and can be done at the doctors office.
I'm always reading about that, because i'm always afraid that i'm going to get it again...
