| Life and Other Tragedies~ I have been away from YT for many months because of life events. I was laid off from my college teaching job in December and 7 months later I still don't have a job. Here are some of my favorite reasons from various HR departments: You are too qualified You have too much education for this position The other candidates have 20+ years of experience We don't want to pay for relocation (even though on every cover letter I have sent it specifically says "Will pay my own interview/relocation costs") Arghhhhhhhh.....I've applied for over 400 jobs around the country and this STINKS! Anyway, I just applied for my dream job at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and am really hoping it comes through. I'll take any positive vibes I can get Simon and Hallie are doing well. Hallie is especially LOVING having me home all the time. Her vision is almost completely gone but she's doing well navigating around the world. Simon gets bored with us a lot so he is still going to daycare and having a lot of playdates. I have been volunteering a lot at the local foodbank and taking an animal advocacy class through the humane society. I suppose I've rambled long enough |

| Just wanted to wish you much luck on getting the position you want. Sending good vibes your way. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. That is so sweet that your baby goes to day care. He must be loving the playmates he has made. So sorry to hear about your other little one. I wasn't here to hear what happened but I'm glad she is having an ok time of navagating around. GOOD LUCK

| Sending LOTS of positive thoughts for that dream job!! I have a 27 year old son who has moved back with us after being laid off in February. Some of the reasons you have been given are just infuriating, aren't they? Here's hoping Vandy comes through for you. Glad your babies are doing well.

| Its good to see you back!!! I am sorry you are having a string of bad luck with job hunting. This economy cant be helping either. I know mY Husbands buisness has slowed down considerably and where we used to be doing very well now we are just getting by. Keep putting your resume in to places and I am sure something will work out for you. Im keeping my fingers crossed for you. Take care

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I'd wondered what happened to you....and yeah sometimes real life gets in the way. I'm glad to hear Hallie is doing well. They adapt so much easier than we do. Glad Simon is still enjoying daycare. I still remember watching them on daycare cam! Sending positive vibes for the job at Vanderbilt. Simon and Hallie may be southerner's soon!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It is so great to see you here, I've missed you so much ! I'm not surprised you're too talented for most jobs, even in a regular job market, seriously! I've heard from others who are looking too and they all say the competition is unreal. Like, even for 1 part time job - a place will interview TEN people!! For a part time job. The job market is so tough right now. But I know you'll find something...and I'm crossing my fingers and paws that it's Vanderbilt. Think of all the southern men who could worship at your feet ! Hugs and kisses to the furries. I loved watching Simon on his daycare webcam, he is such a wild man.

| Nice to see you back but sorry things have been going all wrong for you lately. Sending good wishes for the job at Vanderbilt College. Hope it all works out for you. Relocating too, that's exciting as well. Glad to hear the pups are doing well but sorry Hallie's eyesight is failing even more. Amazing how they adjust to their new challenges better than humans I think. Bless her little heart. Hugs to both your babies, |

| It's posts like these that make me wonder why I EVER took a break from this wonderful place. You have all made me feel better and believe me, these days, that's not an easy task I still have the monkeys blog (Simon and Hallie) though I haven't kept it up like I used to. I'll try to get better Thanks again for all the good thoughts! |

I am 52 yrs old...who will hire me when there are young people out there looking for jobs...And this OVER QUALIFIED CRAP!! Don't these people realize that we DON'T CARE!! it's all about having a job! I have always done administrative work. So when I applied for a job at the local grocery store as a customer service supervisor they told me I was over qualified??!! I am constantly checking job sites and the career center here where I live...there just aren't any jobs out there...It's very depressing...I wish you all the luck in your search. I know it's not an easy one

| Kim, my dear friend, I have missed you and Simon and Hallie. I sincerely hope you are back to stay - except for a short hiatus to make the move to Nashville (positive thinking here). I don't know why you are getting all the nonsense about over qualified, under qualified, etc. 'cause any organization would be honored to have you working for them. I will be saying a million gazillion bazillion prayers for you. I know that HE has a plan for you and sometimes the plan requires a huge test of our faith. NOW -- please post some current pics of the kids..... |
