| Thanks, guys. I'm feeling better now except my foot is swollen. My husband got home from work a little while ago. He was very disappointed with these people around here. He said he would get the phone number of our neighbors that live behind us (who are really nice) just in case anything ever happened and I needed help.

| Good Idea. I am just so sorry your neighbors and the people that drove by did not stop. How very cruel. Glad you are alright, with the exception of your ankle.

| Well, Don't even let them look at your sweet baby when you come home from that. I am so happy you and the baby are fine. I was born and raised in LA and there is not much here, but the people here usually stumble over each other to help someone. Best Wishes on you new bundle of happiness, Angie

| I try to help others when I see that they need it or I say, I have called 911 and someone will be here shortly. Unfortunately the world that we live in today is scary. These are not exact details but you will get the point..... Just the other day, a man in Dallas pulled over bc he saw someone that was laying on the sidewalk, in the need of help. The man stops his car, gets out to help where the man jumps up and woman comes out of nowhere, they knock him down, jump in his car and drive away. Two weeks ago, there was a wreck here in Sherman. Two people not invovled in the wreck stopped, got out of the car to assist. Another car came by and hit them. Killed them both instantly. Stories like the above, unfortunately, make people think twice about helping anyone anymore. I am sorry that it happened to you.

| How awful! Really, nurses too, they should be ashamed of themselves. Hope your feeling better today and I am so happy you weren't hurt in your fall. People are rude today. Your right saying they don't care anymore. I have had grown people shove my little granddaughter to get into an elevator before we could get in. Just shoved their way past us and she's only 2 1/2. Where the heck are they going in such a hurry in a mall? Plain rude. What comes around goes around and I hope they all get their's one day. You are raising a fine young man. Be proud of that. Glad your ok. |

| It is a shame to see where our society has taken us that we can't help out a pregnant girl clearly in distress. If only we are vigilant about teaching our own children how to be more giving and less selfish will it ever change.

YT 2000 Club Member | That is sad that your neighbors did not help you out! I alway's try and help people who need it out when I can. So does my husband and kids. I belive in Karma and what goes around alway's comes back around. About 3 weeks after we had moved into our house, my son Lincoln ran into the glass screen door. He had a big piece of glass sticking out his face right by his eye, it was horrible with blood every where. Both my neighbors on each side of the house came to his aid to help me. Just as my neighbor Mandy was getting him into her car to take us to the Er my husband pulls up. They had to call in a Ped Plastic surgeon to stitch up his face by his eye. It was pretty bad. When I got back home all the glass was cleaned up and the broken glass was taken out of the door by my lovely neighbors! How very thankful I was for their help and kindness! We had not known them for too long on top of it all!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm sorry that happened to you, especially when you are pregnant, but I'm glad your son learned a valuable lesson. I don't think this is anything new though; remember the story in the Bible, of the Good Samaritan? A man was robbed and beaten, and left half dead and naked in the road, a priest past him by, and another man from his own town passed him as well, but a Samaritan from another town, who was a rival, stopped and tended to his wounds, and paid for him to stay at in Inn. This example was given by Jesus, as to how we should treat people, and love our neighbors as ourselves. Quote:

Thor's Human Donating Member | There have actually been numerous studies on this phenomenon; the more people there are around, the less likely it is that anyone will do anything. If just one or two people had been around, they would have almost certainly rushed to help. The responsibility to do something seems to get divided up by the number of people at the scene. There's some psychology that everyone thinks that if the victim needed help, surely someone else around would take care of it. Anyway, I am SO sorry this happened to you, it sounds very painful! I have never been stung by a bee. I hope in some way this provides a little comfort - it's not that people are bad, they are just stupid in groups.

| I think that parents need to teach core values to kids and I have found that people have lost that. Many people expect the teachers or other people to do it for them and that is a shame in itself. My dad pounded it into our heads (not literally) and I think that is why we are the way we are. I think sometimes we care to much and that is what gets us hurt. I think that people are just so use to minding there own business and it is true that many people would rather not get involved. I mean look at all the people that have sued others or have turned around and hurt them etc...when the other person was just trying to help. When I encounter a problem I asses the situation and go from there. Each situation is different, but I can assure you if I saw your situation there is no way I would stand and do nothing. That is very sad, and to think that nurses were passing you doing nothing. They need to go back to basics themselves. Since this thread I have been thinking about positive things that I have seen people do. I remember one time when I first started nursing school there was a car that had ran off the freeway and the car landed on top of the driver and the passenger got out okay (it seemed). I saw a car go across the lanes and the next thing I see is one of the ER nurses from the local hospital running down the freeway with her bag. She didn't think twice about helping and as soon as she pulled over to safety she was running at full speed to help. When I use to work at a department store I heard a big thud and the next thing I see an elderly woman curled up in a fetal position with blood all over her head. A EMT saw what had happened and ran across the store to help. He kept her calm as we called 911, and it was just amazing to see him at work even though he didn't have to be. I truly think that we all can do our part in helping others. It can change a person...maybe the person you helped today will reach out and help another tomorrow. It is a big world but sometimes things can change one person at a time. The world may never be perfect but we can do our part. Okay I better go to sleep now. Hehe...
