I think that parents need to teach core values to kids and I have found that people have lost that. Many people expect the teachers or other people to do it for them and that is a shame in itself. My dad pounded it into our heads (not literally

) and I think that is why we are the way we are. I think sometimes we care to much and that is what gets us hurt. I think that people are just so use to minding there own business and it is true that many people would rather not get involved. I mean look at all the people that have sued others or have turned around and hurt them etc...when the other person was just trying to help. When I encounter a problem I asses the situation and go from there.

Each situation is different, but I can assure you if I saw your situation there is no way I would stand and do nothing. That is very sad, and to think that nurses were passing you doing nothing. They need to go back to basics themselves.
Since this thread I have been thinking about positive things that I have seen people do. I remember one time when I first started nursing school there was a car that had ran off the freeway and the car landed on top of the driver and the passenger got out okay (it seemed). I saw a car go across the lanes and the next thing I see is one of the ER nurses from the local hospital running down the freeway with her bag. She didn't think twice about helping and as soon as she pulled over to safety she was running at full speed to help.
When I use to work at a department store I heard a big thud and the next thing I see an elderly woman curled up in a fetal position with blood all over her head. A EMT saw what had happened and ran across the store to help. He kept her calm as we called 911, and it was just amazing to see him at work even though he didn't have to be.
I truly think that we all can do our part in helping others. It can change a person...maybe the person you helped today will reach out and help another tomorrow. It is a big world but sometimes things can change one person at a time. The world may never be perfect but we can do our part.
Okay I better go to sleep now. Hehe...
