| human food.. to feed or not to feed. I'm not trying to start a controversy.. just want to know everyones opinion on the subject. I'm totally against feeding my dogs human food.. maybe a little piece of bread off of something I'm eating as a treat or something every now and then.. but thats as far as I go. My mom on the other hand (and some other people I know) question why it is so bad for them though. I tell them over and over again that it can cause obesity, cause them to not eat their food (which is healthy and nutritious for them especially when they are a growing puppy), and changes of diet can cause diarrhea. They don't listen to me though. Anyone else have anything to add to this of why human food is bad for doggys? Or does anyone else feed their doggys human food?

| I agree that it's not good but it also depends on what you are giving them. But a lot of people feed their dog raw diet. If Coco has an upset tummy, or if I just happen to make white chicken with broiled rice (I love it) I will mix a bit with her kibble. Every sunday she gets a scrambled egg (vet recommended for her coat), and once a week I give her cottage cheese with her kibble (also vet recommended for calcium and stomach bacteria). I also don't give her junky treats, instead I cut up little bits of fruits for training treats. I think human food can cause a lot of problems but as long as you're not giving them all the time, or anything unhealthy, it's fine. I would ALWAYS ask my vet too.

| lol my moms dog gets fried eggs and bacon. He doesn't eat his food at all.. whatever my mom is eating, she'll fix him a plate of food lol. He eats more than me! They say its because they love their dogs and don't want to say no to them.. well I LOVE my dogs.. that is why I say no to them.. can't think of what they want.. gotta think of what they need.

| Ok i confess I give Kelsey table scraps and it is very bad...she is such a begger now. Im trying to stop. She doesnt bark at me anymore like she used to now she'll just sit and stare at me and wonder if i'm going to give her any. I do give her rice mixed w/ her gravy every now and then and some plain, baked chicken. Other than that...strictly dogfood

| Yoda gets boiled chicken and rice, scrambled egg, cottage cheese or yogurt and every once in awhile some of MY soy milk....those are the only "human" foods that he gets..Usually he is satisfied with his kibble. and every once in awhile peanut butter too.

| I don't think its bad. I feed Stewie eggs occasionally. In fact, he just got done having some with some left over corned beef. I don't give large portions or anything - about the 5oz maybe. Anyway, I also feed him small pieces of meat. I don't like him begging though, so I never feed him while I'm eating. I always put it in his bowl.

| human food I have done lots of research on what to give Elphie for food. I hear that dog food is the best and only dog food. But she doesnt like her wet food anymore and will only eat her hard food at night. Shes five pounds and gets a lot of exercise each day. I also read that some human food is ok to give them like vegetables and some fruits....she likes apples. I cook her chicken breasts sometimes which she likes. I was thinking of giving her deli meat that you buy from the store but i wanted to check first to see if that is very bad for her. What do you think??? Sincerely, Concerned mother |
