| Jury Duty Question my husband is away right now to Concord College on the McNair Scholarship program and he just receieved a letter stating he needs to report to jury duty. Would the court let him off of it, if he shows that he is indeed in school durring those times. Heck he was thrilled to get the You've been seleceted for jury duty letter. a year ago. Now they call him. OY Not sure how to do this.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm...I don't know if they let you off for schooling or not, but it kind of rings a bell bc school is tough to make up if you're not there for class....so I'd think they'd let him off, but don't know for sure. I had to serve once, and wow, I hope I never do again. It was a horrid rape case of a 13 yr old girl, with no proof whatsover against the man. He said, she said. I think about it to this day and feel terrible about the case, which ended as a hung jury. I hope he can get out of it....did you try looking online for info for your area?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I think you can postpone it one time. I would check with the court clerk.

| I'm not sure if it's a state thing, but I know for a fact in Texas if you're in college you can opt out of jury duty. The jury duty paper should have information on what counts as an exemption and what steps you must go through to get that exemption. You can also call the number they give for more information.

| There is a statement at the bottom of the summons on where/who to call to be excused with reason. He will most likely have to send paperwork verifying his school status. The sooner he does this, the quicker this will get resolved!!!!!!

| I know in Massachusetts, theres a website on the letter that comes to your house that you can sign onto and postpone the date. My husband did it once when he knew he was going to be out of town on a business trip.

| LuvMyMissy is correct. The sooner he notifys them the better. My husband was a truck driver, and he was excused if he was out on the road.
