| Are you ever ashamed to tell people where you are from?? Like when I'm talking to people I am ashamed to tell them I am from Cincinnati, although I grew up in the suburbs of the city it was still called Cincinnati, it takes about 30 minutes to get to downtown. Cincinnati is becoming this horrible place that nobody wants to even think about visiting. I do NOT drive downtown unless i'm with my husband and we are going to a reds game or something like that, otherwise we steer clear of it. Today news reads "Unthinkable Tragety" Cincinnati mayor: 'Unthinkable tragedy' | Cincinnati.com | Cincinnati.Com I'm so sick of all the crime that goes on downtown, it makes the rest of the area look bad. We have a murder almost daily, and sometimes multiple in a day!! Most of this crime is happening in what's called 'Over the Rine', which is the worst of the worst neighborhoods, it's not safe to even think about driving into. And what's worse is everyone that lives there is blaming the crime on the cops, but yet when a murder like this happens how are the cops supposed to stop it and why isn't anyone stepping up and telling the cops who this person is, you know somebody knows who murdered these people. Sorry everyone I just needed to get some of that out. I'm so sick of this place!! At least right now I can say I live in Fairfield which is in the next county over.

| I know how you feel.... I'm from Waco. (For those of you who don't know....Google... Branch Davidians.) For awhile there if you lived anywhere in the Waco area, people from out of state actually asked if you were in the compound. Ah no! LOL My son, who was 14 at the time, went on a skiing trip right after all of the mess happened here. Someone asked him what he thought about it all. His answer? "Uncle David doesn't like us to talk about it." I know LOTS of great people from Cincinnati! I know you, right?

We drive through Cincinnati going to my parents. We always say we would love to stop but we also say, I bet there is plenty of crime there... we say this in every big city we pass. My DH is a cop and sees the crime in our smaller city of Harrisburg. We don't live in the city (thank goodness) but there will always be thugs and dirtbags...in every city.

| lol well thanks, that makes me feel a little better. Cincinnati is so HUGE, the problem is mainly downtown, of course the surrounding areas aren't great either but the further you get away from downtown the better it gets. I grew up living almost on the county line, so one more mile away and I would no longer be in Cincinnati lol. I just hate Cincinnati so much, the worst part about it is that as they are trying to clean the city up it's pushing all the people into the suburbs and ruining our schools and neighborhoods. Like where I went to high school, the school has turned to crap, 1 year after I graduated a girl got raped in the all purpose room DURING SCHOOL!! Now they have gangs in there and everything else. Me and my husband are trying to move out to the middle of no where to get away from it all. I don't want my kids going to these schools (when I have kids that is lol) I don't want my kids to not be able to play outside because they have to worry about getting shot or kidnapped. ooooh I could just go on and on.....but I have to leave work now lol so i'll be back on later to see others comments!! Thanks for listening to me ramble!!

| Nope! I'm not ashamed to tell people where I'm from. I'm from a small city just outside of Erie. But what I would be ashamed of is that I live in a trailer park. But I don't care... I love where I live! I hate it when people say "trailer trash" though...

| Yes! If you ever see anyone from Louisiana on Fox or CNN nine times out of ten you will see the most red neck or ghetto person they can find...it dives me crazy! There are really people who live here with teeth and know how to speak. Angie |

| I'm afraid it's like that in most big cities... that's why I want to live as far away from one as I can (right now I live 10 minutes from downtown Cincy in Ft. Mitchell, KY. for school. YUCK!) I'm just now reading about those murders... makes me absolutely sick to my stomach to think that someone could do that.

| I love where I live! I don't think I could ever survive in a big city. I love living "where everybody knows your name". Hardly any crimes and most would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. I've been to one big city before - Indianapolis, IN and I thought I was going to croak, it was so not what I'm used to.

| oh and the riots that happened back in 2003!! That was scary!! my sister was downtown at the time it broke out, she was going to an art college. As soon as it broke on the news I was calling her telling her to get the hell out of there!! She immediately left school and sped till she was out of the city, I was so scared for her. people were litterally jacking cars, throwing stuff through store front windows and stealing from the stores. I was just glad my sister got out alive. If you don't know what riot i'm talking about look it up, it is a controversial reason. ericajm: do NOT stop in Cincinnati if you don't know the city at all, it is WAY too easy to get lost and end up somewhere you'll end up getting shot at. Thats why I don't go downtown without my husband, I've driven there by myself one time and I never did it again because one second I was in a decent part then the next second I was in over the rine and of course it's all one way streets so I couldn't just turn around, I had to keep going. It was scary. my husband is a corrections officer and he is going to be a police officer hopefully within the year. He is hoping to start classes in a few months. But he will NOT be working for cincinnati, that would give me a heart attack lol, he's going where there isn't as much crime, or at least that type of crime.
