I agree 100%. If you are in a plane, and its taking a nose dive, whats the first thing you think about? Not my car, house, money, or education, you think about your family and friends, and say to yourself, I SHOULD HAVE ??????

Since I grew up in a township within Cincinnati I just told people I was from the township, so it was easier. I'm honestly glad that I am out of Cincinnat but I'm still too close for comfort. The closer you get to Cincinnati the more rude the people and the more crime. Now that I'm in the next county over it helps. My plan is to move about 30 more miles north and i'll be good lol. The town I want to live in is so peaceful, and everyone is nice (for the most part). You can take a walk at night by yourself, leave your cars unlocked you house unlocked and not have to worry about it, of course I still wouldn't do that becuase anything can happen. I know we do have some great things here but people ruin it. We actually have a beautiful park in Cincinnati that I love going to but getting there is what sucks because the neighborhoods I have to drive through. Cincinnati just makes me so mad sometimes. Last night I was watching the news and they did the report on the triple murder in over the rine then went on to tell about another shooting and homeless man found dead. It's just crazy, i'm so sick of all of the shootings. And the man they think killed that 19 year old the 9 month old and a 3 year old is being held by the police because they think he is the one that shot somebody else back in March. Oh and then it may have been a month ago, there was a 20 year old that was struck by a stray bullet, it wasn't even meant for her. It's just crazy. Where I live is for the most part safe, where i grew up it's still pretty safe but the crime is picking up. The neighborhoods are getting run down. I guess i'm not so much ashamed of where i'm from as I am ashamed of the people that live here ya know. because if I could go downtown and be safe I would, we have some unique buildings, and stores. And of course we have the Cincinnati school for creative and performing arts, which as you may know just had a tv show on MTV, that's also where Nick Lachey went to school. well the woman that was shot by a stray bullet, it happened right next to the school it was about 9:30am. Ok i'm done complaining now. You all are being so nice just letting me vent.

Heck no I'm not ashamed. If someone is going to judge me based on where I live, they really aren't worth my time.

I am not ashamed of my town or state but as a kid I was beyond ashamed of the house and community I lived in - the homes were teeny little squares that were built to house returning war vets and their families. They consisted of three tiny bedrooms, one bath, a living room and a kitchen. We were a family of 10!! My mother liked to say that she was the only person who had a wall-to-wall bed. :D Everyone who didn't live there called them "the projects". The first time someone asked me where I lived and I told him he laughed and said to the rest of the kids "she lives in one of those shoeboxes". I was humiliated.

My father still lives in that tiny little house and I am, of course, no longer ashamed of that or anything else. In fact, I have wonderful memories.

i hear ya.........im from a little town Called Cleveland, Tn..........we too lived in a "shoebox" house...........only we only had 2 small bedrooms and our bathroom had originally been a back porch!!........no doors on the bedrooms.......we had sheets hanging.........i shared my room with 2 brothers........but when i turned 13 my sweet daddy put me up a curtain that inclosed my bed so that i had privacy.............the whole house was less than 600 square feet............and other houses within "spittin" distance as my papaw would say.........on top of everything im really really southern.......to a point that even southern people think im country........lol........and im not ashamed of any of it...........it is my heritage....and im very proud..........im educated.........as Loretta Lynn would say "i maybe ignorant , but i aint stupid"....lol............be proud of where you are from............and by the way............some of the sweetest and nicest people i have ever known have lived in "trailer parks"...........nothing wrong with it........just have to be who you are............

My mind dreams of Colorado, North Carolina, Maine! I've considered Washington State since I already have a brother there.
It is hard to up and leave family, I would have to take family with me now, the older you get, you really appreciate having family close to you!

It sure is! ALL of Texas is truly amazing! The last time I was in Waco was in Jan. My mother and I left Corpus Christi at 5 pm and drove straight there to meet our friend and pick up the sweetest little yorkie! Winnie! We met at Baylor, an amazing campus and drove straight home! Got back at 4am! It was worth every min tho! Judy, I wish I would have called you, I could have used some sleep!

I am from Minneapolis, MN and was raised in Soldotna Alaska, I lived there for 17 years, the only time I don't like to say where I am from is when I really don't feel like going on and on and on about Alaska! lol! But if you ever want to get a guy to buy you a drink try telling him that is where you are from;) works every time!

OOOHH North Carolina!! I have in-laws in Jacksonville, NC!! I love it there, it's so quiet, and the beach isn't far. Everyone drives slow...lol...I know funny thing to like but it's better than everyone speeding. Oh and of course the best place to eat in the whole wide world....a little place called Thigs, it's seriously the best food EVER. Everything is made from scratch!! It is true down home country cookin!! If you think I'm making this place up....i'm attaching a picture lol, I know I'm goofy!! My DH's grandpa made the recipe for the BBQ!! Oh and then there's the fact that I'd be right next to the marine base!! Awesome!! I love going on base and seeing it all, it's really cool!!

I love it!!! LOL... We called it WACK-O for a while after that, I am sure you heard plenty of that too. Actually, I like the city...we used to live in Corpus and would come home (North Texas) at least once a month and Waco was a stopping and stretching point for us.

Not at all. I'm originally from the midwest, so when people here (I'm in LA) learn that they automatically assume I am a good person and can be trusted. There's too many fake and flaky people here, and it's nice having people think I'm the exception (and it's true!). :D

Sometimes, Canada..... Lots still think we are always cold, live in igloos, have tons of beavers and moose everywhere and are 100 years behind times..... Yes we do have Mcdonalds and have had them over 40 years, we have TV, houses....... he he

I have no problem admitting I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. ;) Apparently, in recent news, we're known to be the new "Colombia" or some such. :rolleyes:
